We're south of Boston, but inland, so not expecting horrible damage DH may or may not have to go in, he's still checking. DD's preschool is shut down DH is a pseudo-Prepper, so we're ready!
DS's daycare is closed and I am working from home. DH went to work early in hopes of leaving early.
We cleaned up our yard yesterday and have been trying to eat all of the food in our fridge. After the halloween storm last year we lost a fridge full of food.
In Cambridge, at work. I was with a bunch of friends last night and all their companies closed. Our HR director sent out an email last night specifically saying that my company is open, but oh yeah, she's not coming in because her kids school is closed. Our management folks are all home but the rest of us are all here. I'm not bitter.
H's at home, his company told everyone to work from home.
The storm actually isn't bad. It's like spitting, but not raining hard, although we had some heavier rain last night/this morning. The wind is supposed to pick up this afternoon. I just really hope we don't lose power, but I'm not that worried.
Silver lining: there was NO traffic on 95 this morning. It felt like driving on Christmas Eve. Of course, that just kind of pissed me off since it means most people stayed home.
UPDATE: well, that was worth it. When they announced the T was shutting down, one of the supervisors called the boss (who was conveniently at home) and convinced him to close the office. So they sent us home. Totally worth commuting into work only to be sent home 2 hrs later.
No work today - I think just about every school district cancelled school today
H really wanted to go out for emergency supplies, so we went to three stores to find water Saturday. Target was sold out of gallons but we got the last case of individual bottles. We also got bread and eggs from Stop & Shop. If we lose power we can use the grill to cook. We have plenty of candles, flashlights and batteries. I didn't go grocery shopping because I don't want to lose a bunch of food if I can help it. We got some cash and gas and can drive to somewhere with food if necessary.

I'm in the metro west area.
I don't have to work today-- I'm a teacher, so it was a no-brainer for us once Deval Patrick recommended that schools close. My husband started his new job today, but fortunately the office is only about 10 min. away.
I didn't do much-- I am doing laundry now and charged up my phone in case we lose power. We have flashlights, candles, etc. We have plenty of food, but not too much that would spoil quickly.

My work closed, but I'd taken a vacation day anyway, so I was home regardless. (Fortunately, I didn't put it in the system, so I won't lose it when they "forget" to give it back to me.)
I just took Jack out, and it went ...poorly. First, he ran around the house trying to get away from me. I finally got him outside, and then, just as we got to the main road, a huge gust of wind picked up and started blowing Jack down the sidewalk. Literally. So I scooped him up, and he's curled up on the couch giving me the stink-eye. At least we got out there before the rain started.
Ours has been flickering, but has stayed on. I put my phone and laptop on the chargers just in case. I did hear a tree fall, but so far can't see where it is.
We just lost power a few minutes ago. Luckily I have been eating like crazy today to get rid of all the food in the fridge. We lost so much food in the halloween storm last year.
Sigh. Power has been out since 5 pm. Going to bed. This sucks. I really hope it is back by the time I wake up. No hot water in the morning would SUCK.
UPDATE: still no power this morning, which sucked. I washed my face with cold water and came into work, feeling gross (I normally shower/wash my hair every day). 5 mins after I get to work, H calls and says power is back on. Sigh... I'm very happy, but seriously, it couldn't have come on an hour earlier so I could have taken a shower? Now I'm stuck at work nasty all day.
I'm in Woburn and at least my neighborhood didn't lost power. We lost cable for about 10 mins in the early evening but that was it. I work at a college so campus was closed yesterday with the exception of select personnel. I spent it catching up on all my shows recorded on the DVR. My husband is in retail and had to go into to work but they closed the store early at 5pm.
Lots of down branches and some down trees and power lines on my way to work. I will say today's commute was amazing as nearly all of the area k-12 schools were closed again.
I just talked to my neighbor and she said we still don't have power. According to the Police Dept twitter feed there were 60 reports of trees and power lines down yesterday into late last night.
I hope this won't be the same prolonged outage that we had around halloween last year. At least my in-laws have power so I was able to shower and get ready over at their house.
I found out today that we're on the same grid as the pulmonary rehab hospital practically next door to us. Which bumps us up on the priority list during outages. Good to know.
