talk through the entire meal? or have short periods where you guys are just quiet? We usually talk a little bit but there are periods of silence and I always wonder what people think about us. If we are eating dinner out and we are pretty silent I am sure people think we are on a awkward first date.
We talk a little, but mostly just chew. LOL FI and I don't talk endlessly as it is. We talk about important stuff and often just sit next to each other without saying anything.
We talk usually the entire time. The only quiet period is right after the main course comes. We talk a lot in general, so this is par for the course for us.
Talking to XH out at dinner was like pulling fucking teeth. It was brutal.
We talk inbetween eating. We'll have some quiet moments, I guess. I've never really thought about it. And trust me - most other people aren't going to be paying much attention to you all!
As I say that, though, I do have to admit that there has been a time or two where I have noticed another table and they caught my eye because they didn't talk at all. AT ALL. Didn't look at one another, etc. But there was something to their body language that told me they've been together a long time - not first date nerves.

I would do this, but Mr. Kuus is one of those people who is constantly talking if his mouth isn't full. I've become so used to it that I feel ill at ease at night during that brief time when he has fallen asleep deeply enough to stop talking, but not deeply enough that he starts dreaming and talking again.
Oh honey, no one would think you were on an awkward first date at 4:30 PM. Don't you worry about that.
I only judge if you not talking because you are on your phone instead of spending time with the person sitting there with you. Otherwise, I think it's normal to run out of new things to say once in a while.

Also, this is always what we think when we see people not talking. lol.
We talk a lot in general - dinner out is never silent these days with DS tagging along In the rare event we go out alone, we usually talk most of the meal.

LMAO!
we talk most of the time but there are periods of silence. The only time I take notice of other couples who aren't talking is when there's palpable tension between them and you can tell they've just had a fight. I'd rather cancel my dinner reservations than pay $150 to sit across from H thinking about all the ways I can murder him and not get caught.

We're talkers so we pretty much talk the entire time. But I'm a big fan of the comfortable silences... so if I saw you at the next table, I wouldn't assume you guys were weird. That you were just less chatterbox-y than H and I!
We talk at least 50% of the time, I think. I'm comfortable with silences while we're out. Much of the talk after the main course comes has to do with the food itself. I figure people just assume we're boring.
