I think I may need something but I am so afraid of weight gain. I have this constant anxious feeling and nothing seems to be helping. I would love to try some yoga but they don't offer day care for classes around me.

I take one to help me sleep as needed but it makes me so groggy I have to be under some serious stress. I take a beta-blocker as needed too for a heart condition I have that helps with anxiety. No weight gain.
Have you tried any breathing or meditation exercises? I used to think they were silly but they do help.
I took Zoloft for over a year after DD was born for anxiety. It was amazing! It doesn't make you gain, makes some people lose. It was a little hard for me to wean off of, though. I had to go slowly. But it was great!
Also, I dont know how you are about exercising at home but there are some great yoga DVDs out there.
I have hbp and take a med with a beta blocker but it doesn't do much for my anxiety. I took zoloft in the past and maybe I should take to my dr about that one again.
Great idea on the yoga at home. I'm sure it is on demand and DD has been asking to take yoga classes so today I will search for that while we are home.
I had a pretty major panic attack last February that landed me in the hospital thinking it was a heart attack and got a script for Klonapin but never filled it.
Yikes! It does not sound good if your anxiety attacks lands you in the hospital. I take anxiety on an as need basis but end up not taking it often enough because it makes me sleepy and I am not supposed to drive while on it. It gets kind of hard when anxiety is during the day.
I never heard of weight gain on anxiety, though I do for mood stabilizers. However, the a/d I am taking is the Happy, Horney and Skinny pill. I lost a whole pant size in only 6 weeks.

I don't post often but read the posts nearly everyday.
I wanted to respond to this because this year at my physical I talked to my dr about how I had been feeling and she basically diagnosed me with anxiety. I never thought I was anxious but rather just was stressed out. I felt like I was on eggshells all the time and was short with my kids.
Anyway, I went on the meds (Celexa) and I haven't felt this good in a long time (maybe since I had my oldest - nearly 5 years ago). The day I filled the RX was my birthday and I think very often this was the best birthday present ever. I wish I had gone on it a long time ago.
I haven't noticed any side effects and actually lost weight because I have energy to make dinner and be healthy.

And which pill is this?
Wellbutrin - I can't take most kind of a/d and this one was strongly adviced by my dr that best fits my symptoms. Unfortunately for some, this can increase anxiety since this increases your energy and jump start your metabolism. I can't take most a/d as it will shoot me through the roof with mania. This increases my energy enough not to be too low and not enough to put me in mania.

I take xanax as needed, I also do yoga, but honestly... I don't think it helps my anxiety all that much. I also try and limit my coffee intake as that just contributes to my anxiousness. I prefer to have something to take as needed then to take a pill daily. Good luck!

Ive been on anxiety meds since I was 17 and it never caused me to gain weight. I've actually lost my appetite and lost weight on certain anxiety meds. I will tell you I tried to go off my anxiety meds for a few months and I was a wreck.... I thank God we have Prozac lol.
Do you know what is causing your anxiety? Anxiety is a symptom not the actual problem typically. You might have better results figuring out and correcting the cause.
That's the only thing that ever worked for me, unless it is a short term thing until you can figure out the cause.

I was on Wellbutrin years ago and did not have this effect. It made me nauseous for 2 weeks and I lost weight but as soon as the side effect subsided, I gained it back (but no more than what I lost). It worked well for me
I took Wellbutrin to quit smoking a few years ago and it made me psycho. I would cry for hours over nothing and would cuss people out if they did anything that irritated me, like wish me good morning. My co-workers ended up doing an intervention of sorts and begged me to find another way to quit.
I've been on many A/D over the years, all of what was mentioned and I hate them. I'm not depressed. I have anxiety. My heart races and I get really agitated very easily. Usually exercise helps with this but I haven't been exercising much lately so my anxiety is increased. I am also under a lot of stress lately with being back in school and work being a pain in the ass and just life.

Sounds like my story almost exactly! I had anxiety too and I had to treat the source which for me was stress as well. What worked for me might work for you who knows.... Healthy eating (lots of veggies, limited carbs and sugar), limited caffeine, multi vitamin and vitamin D (get your vitamin D level checked), 15 min a day of sunlight minimum if I can, exercise, prayer and meditation. Hope you can find a solution that works for you

prior to deployment i was on small doses of Klonopin for about a month...anymore it has a horrible effect on me (mental state wise). Currently for my TMD (stress related) i take every now and then 1/2 a pill of the smallest dose of valium they make...I have not had any issues with weight gain at all. Even when it's really bad and i take them 3 times a day.
