What are you getting FIL for Christmas?

I know, too early for this! I am having surgery in December so I'm trying to take advantage of being home today to get some online shopping done.

MIL is done, and I haven't bought much for FIL. I'd like to keep it around $50. He can't drink alcohol right now due to a medical condition. He also isn't that into food for the same reason.

I can't just copy my dad's gift because we are giving to the animal shelter near his house as his gift this year (his charity of choice).

He gets an Outback gift card every year. It's all he wants.

FIL gets an amazon gift card for christmas, his birthday, and fathers day. He has a Kindle Fire so he can use it for that.

I have no idea this year and last year he said I set the bar high so I'm totally flaking.

I'm thinking a wine gc at this point. This way he can get what he wants or get something fun to try.

I'm trying to do the whole "too tired with PG excuse" but DH IS NOT stepping up so far.

We ( umm, I) try and get him an "experience" gift, preferably something that means he can have guy time with DH. Last year we got him a groupon for a day of golfing and he loved having a promised day out with his son.
This year I have bought a groupon for a night out at a duelling pianos place where apparently he has always wanted to go - the 4 of us will go sometime in the new year.

I find it's a very MM gift and he raved on and on about how thoughtful it was last year.

We buy MIL and FIL tickets to a NBA game - but for good seats that's over $50. We've also gotten FIL beer of the month club, baseball hats and althetic shirts. It was easier before he stopped golfing...

how about a t-shirt/hat from his favorite football team?

We got MIL & FIL tickets to go see some gospel christmas show and a gc for dinner. FIL usually gets a home depot gift card though.

FIL usually gets books or DVDs that are sports related or history related for just about every gift. He enjoys it.

My dad just wants the family together which he gets and we got him and my mom an iRobot because they are clean freaks haha. FIL....who the f knows. I'm so tired of shopping for that side of the family. Probably more tools that he doesn't need.

Yep! And even though we also have to give a list, I still pray that I don't get FIL. He is so hard to shop for.

That's hs department. He buys his parents gifts. So I have no clue. Last year he got a cooler for the car that plugs in to the lighter. He does a lot of road trips.

Maybe a subscription to Flickr or smugmug or whatever? Or a gift certificate to one of those places that will make printed photo albums or turn your photos into coffee mugs/puzzles/etc.?

Nothing. DH handles the gifts for his side of the family, and he won't start thinking about it until say 12/15.

FIL and MIL got a g/c to a brazillian steakhouse last year. They liked it. We'll see what DH comes up with. It's his dad. I have my own to worry about (but he just gets food and/or booze, so I'm no help to you).
