IMO, they priced themselves out of the small tablet market, not surprising.. Though experts were predicting around $250. I'm sure apple loyals will still buy it.
For me, it's effectively the same unit is as the Ipad 2, but smaller (no retna display which is the main upgrade for the new ipad). If I can buy an Ipad 2 for $70 more, there is no way I would buy an Ipad Mini...

I'm currently in the market for a small tablet and agree that they priced themselves out of the market. Had they been able to come in at $249 or so, they probably would have been my top contender.
No. I got an iPad for free (won it in a raffle) and also won a Kindle Fire last year. Between those two I'm good. I generally prefer the Kindle, as I read more than anything on my tablets. The strategy behind the mini is unclear to me...not a huge apple fan either...
I think if one didn't have an iphone or an ipad already, it might be a convenient small screen to surf the internet or check GBCN--but since I have both of those things, it would be of no use to me.
I might buy one as a gift for my MIL this Christmas. It's still cheaper than a regular iPad and I think it will suit her well. I have a Fire and IMO, the apps for the Kindle are noway near as good as the ones that Apple has. They are mostly games, which I really don't care about.
I have an iPhone, and we have an iPad2. I bought a Kindle Fire HD last month, but didn't love it so I sent it back and ordered the mini instead. I want something small enough to carry around in my purse, but big enough to easily read from. Also, now my husband and I don't need to fight over the tablet. I am a sucker for Apple handhelds, I know.
No, my regular iPad is about as small of a screen as I would like. I hardly ever use my iPhone for browsing or anything like that because I offer the iPad screen size. Anything smaller would annoy me.
