Although we are unscathed from Sandy (and I'm thinking of all those not so lucky), I need to vent on the rest of our luck. In the past 4 days:
1) burnt the clutch on the truck trying to pull the boat 2) 2 flat tires on the trailer 3) 2 flat tires on my car 4) H got rear-ended this morning
We were just discussing the options for trading in the truck for something that can tow. Part of that involved "keeping the forester running as long as possible." And it gets rear- ended this morning. Bumper is messed up, hatch won't close, and it's stripped down to liability only. The only saving grace is H was the front car, so hopefully someone else's insurance will fix it? I don't know though bc the cops didn't ticket or write a report. *sigh*
We're right there with you. We both drive pretty old cars (2000 Mercury and '98 Pontiac). Who knew mine would be the reliable one this year. DH's battery went, brake pads, and latest his fuel pump. He's taking the car to the mechanic for the 3rd (!) time to fix the fuel pump - it's been leaking gas like a sieve ($$$$).
The friggin' fuel pump was over $1000 to replace and they f'ed it up.

You don't have to have a police report. The insurance co will do its own investigation to determine fault/responsibility. Since this seems pretty clear it shouldn't be an issue.
In my city the police will not even come unless an ambulance is required.

Oh. Good to know! Maybe we can get it fixed. *fingers crossed* otoh, it's a 2002 with 150k miles on it and pretty beat up. Bumper and hatch may total it. Lol
