How the hell do you figure out presents for a first Christmas? J and I will have been together for a few months by then. I have no idea how much to spend. I know he doesn't have a lot of extra cash, so I also don't know what to say if he asks me what I want.
I know I'm going to get him a new pair of shoes, because he loves shoes. And I'm thinking maybe a Ravens jersey. And those two things would add up, but I feel like two presents isn't enough?

For our first Christmas, neither of us really needed any "gifts" per se, so we decided to go on a cruise the week before Christmas. Maybe you guys could do something like a weekend or even a night away together, somewhere you can drive to? I like having an experience together rather than gifts. We did do little gifts in stockings so that we had something fun to open on Christmas morning.

Last year I went big for our first Xmas...we had only been together 4 months so that was my mistake. I got clothes, hockey tickets, a stocking,etc....we broke up the day after. Granted I got good gifts as well. I dont recommend going crazy lol. I agree that maybe a trip or something might be the way to go.

A-yes it is too early to talk about Christmas-signed, the Grinch
B-For a gift, sex is ALWAYS appreciated Other than that, you could talk about a spending limit? Or talk to his friends about things he wants. Pay attention to commercials he likes?

I'd say that's good enough. Keep it simple for someone you haven't been dating long.
The guy I was dating before BF, we had been together like 2.5-ish months, come Christmas, so I got him a couple bacon-related thinks from ThinkGeek, and he got me a Pat's chef hat and apron. We probably each spent less than $50. It was fine (especially given that we broke up shortly thereafter lol).
This year, I already got BF some fancy sheets for his bed (like 1600-thread count) that I got a great deal on, a photography workshop that I got a Groupon for, and I'm going to pick out one more small thing--less than $100 for all 3 gifts combined. Our anniversary is New Year's, and I'm taking him on a weekend getaway, so I don't want to go crazy for Christmas.
Buckey balls are highly magnetic metal balls that are addicting to play with at your desk. Don't ask me how I know that.
