We do a Halloween movie marathon every year in the weeks leading up to Halloween. We do a mix of new movies and old cheesy classics, like the 80s Stephen King stuff that scared the pants off us when we were kids.
For non-scary, I love: Haunted Honeymoon Hocus Pocus Beetlejuice Nightmare Before Christmas Little Shop of Horrors Rocky Horror (of course!)
Slightly Spooky to Full on Horror: Sleepy Hollow 28 Days/28 Days Later Scream Poltergeist The Shining Paranormal Activity The Ring (yikes)
We usually put on the Simpson's Halloween specials - you can probably watch on youtube. Movie-wise....I'm not really into horror.
Hitchcock is best for non-horror folks like myself. I recommend the Birds (or Psycho if you haven't seen it).
There's a great old Disney movie called "Watcher in the Woods" w/Bettie Davis. But that's probably hard to come by.
"Halloween" w/Jamie Lee Curtis is always a classic.
I used to love Watcher in the Woods!
I can't believe others have seen this one! THe blonde actress looked eerily like my mom. When we watched it as kids it totally freaked out my twin brother and he couldn't finish it. I was so proud.
Ooh, good suggestion above on "The Shining." The season 6 simpsons halloween (special V) has a great Shining spoof.

The Shinning!
And I think a lot of people have seen Watcher in the Woods, but I didn't identify it until someone mentioned it in one of these posts a few years ago. I had seen it as a kid, and still remembered some of the scenes that creeped me out, but then buried it away and forgot about it.
I love a lot of the psychological thrillers already mentioned. I also like the cheesy flicks like Hocus Pocus.
For some odd reason, It (by Stephen King scared the crap out of me when I watched it in HS and I am too chicken to watch it now. lol. I watched the first Paranormal Activity and it scared the crap out of me. I can't even handle white noise from the baby monitor b/c of that stupid movie.
The Exorcist is always a classic too.
Now I have to convince DH to watch one of these scary flicks with me tonight.

Oh, It! That's a gooooood one....that scared the crap out of me when I was (not even all that) little too! ::Scary clown voice:: "Hiya Georgie!"
FWIW, I watched "It" again within the last few years, and I was not scared at all. It terrified me at the time, and I had a long, lingering fear of drains for, like, way longer than anyone should. Still hate clowns. HATE.

I watched a bit of "It" the other day. I think it was on SyFy. I think the scariness of those made-for-tv movies is diminished by the bad acting & production value.
I didn't find the Excorcist terribly scary. Maybe b/c I knew what to expect? But I had trouble getting through "Alien" -- too suspensful.
For a disturbing classic watch "A Clockwork Orange."
For a modern one, "Black Swan" is a bit freaky and it's showing on HBO a lot.

I'm switching between Hocus Pocus and The Shining right now. The Shining always makes me conscious about being in hotels where the hallways are dark and long (Ballys' in Las Vegas come to mind), and hotel rooms where the bathroom mirror is across from the curtained shower.
