Ugh. I know how is to fee like things are getting on track then they get jacked up AGAIN. Can I ask, though, why you quit back in June if you are still pregnant?
Big medical bills would normally come from an efund so it doesn't concern me too much that you're dipping into the efund. However I'm sure you know that the money will eventually run out so this won't work forever.
Personally I'd have 2 budgets -- get all your day to day stuff under one budget that should have a surplus every month. Pay the medical bills from savings. If you regular budget is in the red every month (excluding medical stuff) then I'd post it and see what can be done. I'd also consider not doing your IRA this year. Depending on the rates on some your bills it may make sense to pay off more bills with that money.

I'm glad your husband is on the road to recovery.
Don't be down on yourself because you are in the red because of things like medical bills. Shit happens, and fussing over your paper budget isn't going to change that.
I have no idea what it's like to be in the position you describe. Someday I'm going to be there (having kids, quitting a job, and probably being in the red when shit happens; hopefully with no chemo), and I don't doubt that it will freak me out too, no matter what we do to prepare for it. Actually, just thinking about it freaks me out.
