Have you read any Jen Lancaster? I like (most of) her books. Her fiction is kind of meh, but her memoirs are funny. Bright Lights, Big Ass is my favorite.
I'm reading through the Sookie Stackhouse novels, very lighthearted, but I find myself being mad that she's made a fortune from books and TV rights, as she's not a great writer. Kind of the same way I feel about Stephenie Meyer.

I agree with the Jen Lancaster rec but my favorite is "If you were here".

Also Allie Larkin's Stay is really good.
Another Jen Lancaster vote here, but I don't agree with "if you were here". I'd read her earlier stuff, like "Bitter is the new Black", "Bright Lights Big Ass" and "Such a Pretty Fat". She had another one that was ok - something about Plaid I think. Her most recent memoir was terrible (IMO) so don't start with that one (or read it at all, for that matter, just read her blog).
I think the issue has been fixed, but for a while she wasn't a good one to read on the Kindle because she includes a ton of hilarious footnotes and you couldn't see them properly on the Kindle.
Have you read anything by Emily Giffin? Her books are pretty light and entertaining reads.

Well, it's not chic lit, but I like Dave Sedaris for lighthearted...Me Talk Pretty One Day is good. I literally laugh out loud in public when I read his stuff. Also, most of his books are short story-esque...the chapters can stand alone, which makes it good for the occasional pick up & put back down.
