Confession: I like Emily Giffin's books. They're fun reads.
Bossy Pants
Haha. My confession is that I hated the one Jen Lancaster book I tried to read. She seriously annoyed me.
Do you know which one it was?
She is far more annoying now than she used to be. She used to be relatable but I think she ran out of good stories and now tries to make things funny that just come off as snobby. At least in her last book.

You've gotten lots of suggestions, but I will add I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. I loved it; the main character wasn't perfect, but she wasn't a complete mess like some chick lit heroines.
It's kind of funny that I feel like I never read, yet have read a fair amount of suggestions (Bossy Pants, Jennifer Weiner, Hunger Games). I will probably check out the Mindy Kaling book and some of the others suggested (maybe this Jen Lancaster).
For my own entry, I like David Foster Wallace's A Supposedly Funny Thing I'll Never Do Again. Some very funny short stories in there. I have been trying to build up the energy to one day read Infinite Jest but it hasn't happened yet.
Thanks!
I love DFW. Infinite Jest is my H's favorite book. I need to attempt it again now that I'm on ADD meds. It's tough!
Well, it's not chic lit, but I like Dave Sedaris for lighthearted...Me Talk Pretty One Day is good. I literally laugh out loud in public when I read his stuff. Also, most of his books are short story-esque...the chapters can stand alone, which makes it good for the occasional pick up & put back down.
I love David Sedaris, but his latest book was horrible. Probably one of the worst books I have ever read.
I also like AJ Jacobs, Jen Landcaster, and Tina Fey.

Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress by Susan Jane Gilman. It's older, but I love it. Also, Little Altars Everywhere, the prequel to Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood is HILARIOUS. I crack up so much just thinking about the part where they name the pagan babies.
Bookmarking this thread for future reference. MsStarry, I am so with you, I HATED the end of My Sister's Keeper. I almost threw the book across the room. I will never read Jodi Picoult again.
It has a follow-up (not really a sequel, but set in the same universe with cameos by the main characters from the first book) called Lola and the Boy Next Door. Also cute, but not as good as the first one.
I like Jennifer Crusie's books. Really, any of them - when I was having a stressful time at work last year, I read/re-read everything she's written. Light and fluffy romance, but the heroines are usually 40-something ladies with a grumpy dog, who aren't looking for a white knight to save them.
Ditto this also. My favorites are Bet Me and Maybe This Time, but they're all fun reads.
Now I refuse to read her books out of principle due to her H's bullying ways on Amazon.
Say what?! Do tell! I didn't like Something Borrowed at all. I didn't mind Something Blue. I have liked her other books though.
Her husband apparently lost his mind recently and started bullying people who left negative reviews of her latest book on Amazon. To make it even more WTF worthy she actually defended him on her FB page. The whole thing was very unprofessional and extremely petty. I honestly can't believe they care about a few random reviews like that. She is a NYT bestselling author! She wrote a book that was turned into a major movie. You'd think they'd be above that kind of behavior.
It was Such a Pretty Fat. I like sarcasm, but not her particular over-the-top style.
Such a Pretty Fat was not one of my favorites.
I agree with bucky - her earlier books were very funny (to me), then she tried fiction and she lost me. Bitter is the New Black and Bright Lights, Big Ass were her zenith. She peaked too soon.
I really love Marian Keyes' books. Chick lit, but a step above the usual. Very funny, but there is usually a serious side to it too.
This! This! This! Love her.
Also just finished The Lifeboat (came out a few months ago I believe) - by Charlotte Rogan - it was so good! Not "super light" reading but I read it all the way through in one sitting.
Bunch of wealthy people on a lifeboat after their luxury cruise liner sinks - think it was set in early 1900s. Good stuff.
What about Bossy Pants by Tina Fey? It is a memoir, but is funny and light and she's very smart, so it is well-written.
I love this and Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns).
I am in the middle of reading Mindy Kaling's book. I started reading it on the plane and was afraid my seat neighbor would think I am nuts bc I was cracking up that hard. I <3 her.
