I know, these come up every now and then, but our board is lacking in Halloween spirit today.
I don't think I actually believe in ghosts, but I do have a super overactive imagination. Especially right now - we've just moved in to a hundred year old house, and everything creaks. Doors rattle. The radiators clang and hiss and howl. On top of that, we're in the midst of our scary movie marathon that we do every year. I find myself very jumpy and unwilling to be in the house alone.
Anybody have ghost stories or strange experiences to share? Even if you've shared in these posts before, bring out the story again!
I used to totally believe. But I don't anymore. It doesn't jive with my atheism. And it makes no sense that there is zero recorded proof after a kajillion alleged encounters.
I've told this story before ... about 4 or 5 weeks after my DH passed away I was sound asleep when I heard him call out really loud ... "Kathy, wake up, wake up right now!!!" It really startled me and I woke up to the sound of someone trying to break into my house (they didn't succeed, they must have heard me moving around - it was about 2am). I did call the police and they came out and stayed around for about an hour but whoever it was was gone.
Since then (this was 6 years ago) I occasionally smell cigarette smoke and feel that my DH is visiting (he was a smoker that died from lung cancer).
I like the comfort of believing our loved ones are watching over us after they pass.
I do. I've had several "encounters" during my life as have others that I know and trust so it's just hard for me not to believe in them, I guess. In the house we live in currently, we often hear footsteps, doors opening, and voices.
I had a friend staying with us overnight and showed her to the guest room. She kind of froze, but didn't say anything. Later over dinner she told me she saw a man in the room at the dresser. She described him, and it was a family member and the original owner of the dresser! Can you believe she still stayed in the room? I felt really bad, lol
Yes, though I've never experienced one. My mom saw my grandpa after he passed away last summer. And some odd things happened around my grandparents house after they died in the last 6 months.
I had a friend make a good case for ghosts: think of Einsteins law of energy (I think it was Einstein) energy can no be destroyed, only transferred. So of I use my energy to pound this nail into a board, where has that energy gone? If I put my energy into a place, doesn't it stay there when I die?
Yes. I think in places of great events were a mass lost of life happened or if the person had unfinished business on earth sometimes they don't leave until something's made right. How can places like Auschwitz or Gettysburg not have spirits and ghosts?
