even in college, we always had trick or treating for kids in the community. I'd park out infront of my dorm room with a bucket of candy for a couple of hours and ask all the kids about their costumes/pretend to be scared by three-year-old ghouls - I enjoyed it!
It doesn't look like anyone is going trick or treating in our building (I thought maybe they'd go door to door and we could put a sign up if we were participating, but I haven't heard anything/don't see anyone out). also, the city of Chicago doesn't set trick or treating hours -- only the suburbs have set times. WHY?!
other Chicago people, do you get any trick or treaters? I feel like someone canceled a big holiday on me!
We haven't had trick or treaters at any of our last 4 places. Our current 'hood is a dead end road with 15 or 16 houses. At least 9 o the houses have kids, but most are infants. I bought candy our first 3 years, but nobody came. I skipped this year. I lov Halloween. It's a bummer with no kids coming by.
None at our house either. Our hood is mostly older folks (with grown kids). It's just starting to transition to younger people. I asked to pick up 3-4 full sized candy bars just to be safe, but he cam home with a bag of candy. Which we've been eating tonight.
You can have some of mine. I am very tired of dog wrangling while my doorbell never stopped ringing. I think we got 60+ kids and I have five pieces of candy left. It was fun, but I am very glad to be relaxing on the couch right now!
I am in the suburbs. But my mom and three friends in different suburbs said they got two trick or treaters total. Are trunk or treats taking the place of door to door stuff these days? It makes me sad.

We've never had a ToTer at our house. We're in a weird location (only house on the block) and the adjoining neighborhood has only two children total (3 year old and newborn)- and they're friends of ours and we just go to them.
We've lived here for two Halloweens. Last year there was no TOTing because of that freak October snowstorm, and this year Sandy has postponed TOTing until Monday.
I doubt we'll get anyone even on a nice-weather Halloween, though. We're on a dead-end street near a block of stores and there's only one family with kids on my block. I bought a pack of full-sized bars just in case.

Our buzzer went off once I bought candy while out and about because of all the kids I saw in the neighborhood. Neighbor said a lot just go trick or treating to the businesses on the main roads.
We don't get any ToTers at my house in Chicago either. My friends that live in neighborhoods in the city with lots of single family homes get tons and tons of ToTers. I think I may bring candy and go visit one of them on Halloween next year. I miss seeing the ToTers!

This is our 1st Halloween in a new neighborhood so we weren't sure about the TOT situation. We bought some candy JIC and we haven't had a single TOTer, which means I'm totally going to eat 2 bags of candy myself
We do now live 2 blocks from the party street that everyone (adults) goes to on Halloween to bar hop...so we're going to have lots of drunk adults mulling around, but not TOTers.

I think people are afraid to send their kids out or something. We went out last night when DH's cousin (who is 9)she went with her friends but we barely saw any other kids. And we live in an area where seriously every house has kids.
lurker coming in, I live in the city and have two 4 year olds, we take our kids into the neighborhoods with single family homes. There are a TON of ToTers there. We have never had trick or treaters in any of our multi unit dwellings in the 12 years I have lived here. As far as trick or treating hours, I just know it starts around 530ish and goes for a few hours.
