I didn't realize DST was this weekend. Does this mess with anyone else emotionally? I love it, only because it feels like the holiday season. After Christmas it starts to get to me. I know it can make some people depressed because they go to work before the sun comes up and drive home when it's setting.
I am getting one of those SAD lights off Amazon this weekend. People swear by those. I figured it can't hurt. Do you notice people getting more depressed in the Winter??
No. This one is my favorite though, because I love the extra sleep, even if it is just an hour!
Also, it is easier to get Alissa to bed when it gets dark earlier. In the summer, it is like pulling teeth, because it doesn't get dark until like 10pm!
It doesn't mess with me emotionally, but that hour off really throws me off. I'm tired for like a week.
I am prone to SAD/depression, but I'm careful to make sure I'm getting plenty of vitamin D, try to get exercise (even when I just want to snuggle up with some hot cocoa), and eat as healthy as possible. Fruits and veggies help a lot.

I used to LOVE it when I was younger. It used to fall on the same day as a horse show we always went to, so the extra hour of sleep was SO nice when we had to get up at 3am to get ready. The last few years I haven't cared much one way or the other, but I don't really have a "sleep schedule" I kinda go to bed based on when I am tired or if I know I have to get up early in the am. I do tend to suffer from SAD, but mostly because I HATE being cold so I don't get out enough. I try Vit D and it helps some
This year will be a different story. I am already feeling the effects of the darkness here in Alaska. I want to sleep ALL THE TIME and have been fairly miserable. I also have NO desire to go outside between the cold, wind, and the lack of sunlight even if I do go out. H and I are probably going to be ordering one of those SAD lights as well. I have NO idea how people can function up here without them.
I remember being super bummed to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Fortunately at least for the next couple of weeks, it should be lighter in the mornings. But back when the time change happened later, it was dark both morning and night right away, which sucked. And last year, when we hardly had fall / winter weather, it was so bizarre to see kids playing outside, in the dark, at 6pm. It's like one of those things didn't belong.
The "spring forward" change is bad too; everyone is soooo tired for a day or two. I guess it's more about the body resetting itself than about that one hour of sleep.
I get a touch of S.A.D. in the winter- but it's not so bad if there are lots of sunny days since i'm outside a lot for my job - as long as i see a lot of sunlight i'm OK.
The fall isn't so bad. My region is second to Seattle for cloudy days, so I take extra Vit D in the winter anyway. I do get excited in January/February when I realize the mornings are getting slightly lighter again. The one hour loss in the spring hits me incredibly hard, and it takes longer for me to adjust to that (almost 2wks) than it does to shift to the 5hr time difference when I've gone to the UK.

It messes with me emotionally mainly because I think it's stupid and wrong. Why is it easier to change when the sun rises and the sun sets than the time people are supposed to go to work in the morning? WTF is wrong with us as a nation and a culture?
Winter messes with me emotionally, with or without DST.

Exactly. Changing time should be outlawed.
I actually grew up in a very small part of the country that didn't do DST up until a few years ago. We actually changed time zones instead. So half of the year we were on eastern time, and the other half of the year we were on central time. I thought the whole country worked the same way until I was well into my teens. When I went to college I was so clueless and all "how can the TIME change?!!"

Spring forward is way worse for me. I can't complain about getting an extra hour of sleep!

I dislike it because I don't have a lot of light to walk the dogs at night. And thats my good, calm time every day. Where we hang out, they have fun, and I can just relax : (
