Yes. I was so glad we did because when a problem was diagnosed at the anatomy scan we knew it wasn't trisomy related.
Also, pet peeve: there is no such thing as a "false positive" in a scan that gives you odds.
This, it drives me crazy too.
I've seen this argued before, but I'm unsure why. Medical literature does use the term false positive when discussing results that increase the odds of having a genetic anomaly when none exists.
We did it with DD1 since it was free. With DD2 there was a question about coverage and there was a possibility it would have been $1,700 for us. So we skipped it, and just did the blood test (quad screen?). If the quad screen came back with bad odds we would have done amnio. All was fine thankfully.
I did, but my doctor considered it optional and rolled his eyes a little at me when I said I wanted to do it. For the next one I think I'll go for the MaterniT21 test instead.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

Yes I did. I am 36 and have had 3 losses. I was all for any of the non-invasive testing. It was covered by insurance so no reason for me to say no. If my results were questionable I would have gone forward with maternit21 but everything is good.

Yep, did it with both. We liked seeing baby on the u/s. dd came back as high risk for Down Syndrome, so we had an amino and it showed everything was okay! DS came back with better odds than my age.
Fwiw, we discussed that we would not terminate except in really bad situations, like baby would have absolutely no motor skills or cognitive awareness. I would've had a baby who had down syndrome. Irationalized this by thinking if my three year old ende up with a serious disease i would never regret having her. I just wanted to know where to deliver. However, I am 100% grateful that my children are healthy.
Yes and we did all the genetic testing they offered. We wanted all the info we could get. Also there're comforted in the reassurance that everything was okay. If it wasn't okay we would have discussed termination.

I did not because for a couple of reasons. One, I am not willing to undergo an amnio or CVS -- which based on the results may have been recommended. Secondly, I know my odds would likely not be good based on my age alone. I do have a level two ultrasound at 23 weeks, though.
No, we did not do one. We chose not to b/c abortion was not an option for us no matter the result.
This makes no sense to me. It's not like abortion is your only option if the NT scan comes back with abnormalities.
We would not have aborted either, but if something was wrong we would have wanted to know so we could do our homework, potentially deliver at a different hospital, seek out specialists, etc.
We did not with DS and will not with this one. I was not comfortable doing the follow up amnio or CVS if that was recommended and then I would have the spent the rest of the pregnancy worrying.
We did. We wanted all the information. Insurance covered it. The best part was sitting down with a genetic counselor, discussing our family histories. We will do it again, if there are other babies!
