I definitely get into the "dating burnout" so I can empathize. At least they will be fairly short.
As far as the doctor you could just say something like "had a great time with you the other night and looking forward to seeing you again. Let me know if you want to get together". At least then you will know and won't wonder. I've definitely been in the mindset of laying it all out there these days.

I'm so there. I have been on SO many first dates that have lead to nothing. Nada.
You have the anticipation of the date and you're somewhat hopeful, then you go and within seconds you're let down.
Dating like that can be really lonely, and unfulfilling, I've found.
