I have to share something really cool. Through a friend of a friend, I managed to get a free half lease on a 16.3hh OTTB. I am so excited. I haven't ridden in almost 8 years. I have him several times a week with a huge indoor ring and trails at my disposal. Sweet!
Very cool. I wish I was. I always feel sorry for the horses that have to haul my sorry ass (or hands and seat.) I haven't been on a horse since I had kids, and my oldest is now 28. Which is why the kiddo goes to horse camp and will be getting riding lessons again now that she's moving back with us. (Yay!) My niece (sister's daughter) rides (typically English) and does dressage and jumping, and my brother's kids also ride (western - he's an ag major and owns property and horses. His older daughter is in college studying ranch management and spends her summers working on various properties and his younger daughter is in college for nursing but spends weekends doing gymkhana and barrel racing; they both bought and resucitated their own horses from a rescue operation. I have aspirations for the kiddo and possibly kidlet as well, both of whom love horses as much as I did as a kid.
For some reason I have the urge to watch International Velvet. lol
Yes! Off the track Thoroughbred. He is a big grey woolly bear right now. And according to his owner nearly unspookable, highly unusual for a TB lol
SO jealous! I had to put my gelding down in March at 31 and I ended up selling my mare before I moved, we are not in the financial position to have horses for a while :-(
