I am kind of surprised he hasn't done the traditional "hey look at all the water" presidential helicopter fly-over (unless I just missed it).
However, all I can say is that if it were Cleveland or Cincinnati that had been devastated, both Obama and Mittens would have been out there filling sandbags and washing dishes since day one, no matter what the mayor said.
Obama did a flyover of nj a couple of days ago. Christie was gaga over him.

Oh OK, well that makes sense. I guess I just wasn't paying attention.
I understand Obama not visiting this area. I think it would lift spirits, but it is a logistical nightmare in an already huge logistical nightmare. When he comes to NYC it shuts things down. Secret Service and the NYPD have to secure his motorcade route and his lodging place. The President is usually helicoptered ( normally a helipad in lower Manhattan near the Seaport) in from one of the airports to one of the helipads on the west side of Manhattan and then picked up via a motorcade in place. They usually close off roads. It's a big ordeal for the people and the NYPD when any President makes a visit here.
I watched Guiliani on Piers Morgan and he came across as a pitbull/asshole/partisan. He kept trying to bring up Benghazi and complain that the president was on the groung.
I'm not sure what the president can do beyond survey the damage and make sure resources are made available for the governors.
Is he supposed to be out there working the Tide Truck? clearing debris from the beaches?
Yeah, I saw that last night, too. I couldn't believe the bullshit that was spewing out of his face. And he sounded even crazier (re: Benghazi) after Wesley Clark came back on and made some well thought out, intelligent points about how the investigation is nowhere near complete. I'd love to know why the fucking former mayor of NYC thinks he's some kind of expert on that kind of crisis.

I was a coast guard event last night. The admiral spoke about how he admired Obama for heading the call of first responders to NOT go because his security would get in the way.
