Yup It is just for botulism concerns. I am not sure why one is the magic age, I guess they assume the baby will be strong enough to handle a reaction then? But now that I know most honey is a lie anyways (and not real honey) who knows if it would even have mattered.
ETA: Apparently 90% of infant botulism cases occur when the infant is under 6 months old and honey is the known source linked to infant botulism. Who gives their under 6 month old honey? I mean even if I didn't know the rules it seems like a weird dietary choice for a bitty baby.
Yep, age one is fine. I never really gave any to DS until about 2.5 just because it didn't really come up. Now I wish I never had because he asks for it all the time. Lol. He loves to dip anything in it.
