Mistakes happen. I'm sure he's just as angry at himself.
That sucks though.
Ditto this. I would be the one to lose mine and I would be even more angry with myself than my DH would be with me. So if he's normally pretty responsible, let it go.
Now if he does this kind of thing all the time and has never learned to take precautions, then that's a different story.
Did he buy it with a credit card? I would call Amtrak and beg them for another one.
Hah, good luck. You can beg until you are blue in the face and it won't do you any good. You have to wait five months until after the purchase date and then send in an application for a refund for a lost ticket. You also have to buy a replacement ticket. Then they will issue a voucher for future use for the unused value of the ticket minus $75.
It is just not worth it. He will probably just work from home the rest of this week (except tomorrow) anyway, then we are out of town for two weeks.

Oh boo, that stinks. Tell him to take the regular train the rest of the month maybe.
If he bought it with a credit card, he may want to see if he can get a refund from the credit card company for a lost or damaged item. Maybe not, but worth trying.
H just totally made up for it. We have been considering getting this very specific ikea bed frame in king size. He just found it, two nightstands, and a dresser on CL and picked it up for me and is now driving home with a packed car. He easily saved over $200 on this purchase. He is a sweet heart.
Now I feel guilty for being even a little bitchy about it.
$178 for a TEN ride? Holy hell, that's exactly what my monthly train pass costs. I'd be so mad at myself for losing that!
the monthly pass is $378 but we are going to be out of town for two weeks of that, so he didn't buy a monthly. He works from home about half the time so we figured a ten ride pass would work for the two weeks that he was working.
It is expensive! He rides amtrak, but even if he took MBTA it would be $314/month. Amtrak is only 40 minutes and the MBTA train is 70ish minutes, so its worth the extra money to my H.
