I've done it with my kids in Daycare and in therapy sessions with kids under 3. I think it helps a lot and eases some frustration when the kids can't talk yet but can communicate. Basic like milk, eat, more, diaper, all done, play, no, yes to list a few

We do it a bit with my baby. He might be a dummy, though, because he does NOT sign back anything. He does think the all done sign is hilarious, though.
We started out with everyday stuff like milk, eat, more, please/thank you, and now we're starting to teach her more and more signs. It's been a huge help.

I actually used the site that mekiakoo posted. I found it on a google search. I wanted to use ASL signs instead of baby signs because I'm snobby like that.
We are doing it, but she is just now old enough to start signing back. It has actually come in handy for H and I to communicate about her diaper status in public or situations where we don't want to be shouting across a room about poop.

My SIL uses it and I think it's the neatest thing ever. Her baby was so well behaved because she could communicate to us what she wanted. I'm going to try doing this when we have kids.
