I first voted in 1993. I looked up what was on the ballot in my state that year. The person I voted against for governor that year won (the first of many losing votes I would cast in that state), and he is now running for U.S. Senate, and he is forecasted to lose. Still hate that jerk.
If I recall correctly, I did not vote in my first eligible presidential election because you had to have voted in person at least once before you could vote absentee in my home state. I don't remember what kept me from registering where I was living at the time or if I was just lazy.
I did register in 1998, however, and I went to the polls with a fervor because they were trying to cut mental health funding and that would have devestated the crisis center where I worked. It was like magic. Funding received.
It was, I remember staying up all night and glued to the TV for days.
Me too! I stayed up until 3 or 4am (west coast time) freaking out, and then spent all my time outside of class for the next few weeks watching non-stop election coverage.
This is sort of weird, but back then in the dorms I had cable, and now I don't. I really miss cable on election days.
I'm really old...1984 Ronald Reagan! It was the year after I graduated from high school. I have voted for the Republican in every presidential election except for Clinton. I did vote for him.
I can't remember if I voted in any local elections before I was out of college. But definitely in '92 for Bush, Sr. Only Republican I've ever voted for in Presidential election.
When Clinton won my roommate proclaimed she was moving to Canada!

Ugh, that's like me and Jeb. At least I found amusement in the fact that most of the grads didn't even bother with polite applause at the end of his speech.
