For DS it went away somewhere between 3 and 4 months. This was when I realized he needed to go to bed earlier, before the witching time started. I often wonder now if I had put him to bed earlier during those witching hour months, if we would have been able to avoid it. I doubt it though. It was so rough.

What time is bedtime? My only suggestion is to move up bedtime. Things got much better when we started putting DD to bed earlier. It seemed like she was giving feeding cues, but then was not really interested in eating. Turns out she was just tired.

I feed her usually around 6ish and once she gives her first yawn we take her upstairs and start the process. So maybe by 6:45-7. We can usually get her to dose for about 20-30 mins and then she screams until close to 9pm when she finally gives in and falls asleep. We bicycle her legs and burp her lots- she is usually pretty gassy and I think just plain overtired. It's so hard to get her to settle herself down at times. These past 3 days have been brutal.
DD is almost four months. For us it started around 6-7 weeks and then gradually petered out by 12ish weeks. Putting her to bed early helps. She typically goes down between 6-6:30. If we keep her up, she just gets overtired and turns into a cranky mess.
My only advice is to try and put your babies to bed earlier. Sometimes that will help - it did with my DS, but it doesn't work for all babies. We used to have the witching time from about 6-8pm. Now, we get him ready for bed at 530-6pm, asleep by 630 and we don't have a witching time. BUT That could also just be the progression, who knows.

This is exactly what worked for us when the witching hour got bad. In bed and asleep no later than 6:30pm. That and the 5 S's.
DD hates to be in a swaddle - but she usually calms down if we hold her really tight and scrunched up. We do try the other 4 Ss though.
Bedtime is usually starts to happen somewhere around 6:30 - we will get her to fall asleep for maybe 30 minutes and then she wakes up screaming and completely inconsolable...which usually happens until around 9ish, with short periods of calmness in between.
I read up on the Purple Crying...this is pretty accurate. I am going to talk to the pedi tomorrow when we go for her 2-month visit.

This. We start DS's night time routine at 6 now and he is passed out by 7. Anything later (even half an hour) and he is miserable, over tired and will not fall asleep!
I think DS was done at about 4 months, when he established his own bedtime. He decided he would NOT nap in the RnP anymore, and at 7:30 he wanted to.go.to.bed.
