I knew they were pretty far right, but SIL linked a blog I resisted commenting on on FB. It was so out there I honest to god found it funny. H was like, yeah, BIL wrote it, and I only read the first like, sentence before I stopped because they are just clearly crazy now. So, good thing I didn't comment, lol
I'm not going to link (even though I'm sorely tempted) because of linkback tracking info, etc, but he goes above & beyond the usual 'we're all gonna be broke & on welfare' stuff to add that Obama's ideas aren't new... they stemmed from the ideas in the Civil Rights & Womens' Lib movements in the 60s and that is why they are bad and flawed.
I dare you to ask them if they believe that Chester A. Arthur was born in the United States. :-) They probably would have no idea and then find wikipedia and go off :-)
wikipedia says his sister was born in Canada and then he was born in the US. Anchor baby?! IDK, anyone with mutton chops that fabulous can be president imo.
But no really guys... what do you even say to that? lol.
That is really interesting about Chester A. Arthur. I never knew that. He's not one of the "popular" presidents you really learn about in school.
I agree about the crazy family I have family on both sides writing crappy stuff on FB. I am not looking forward to seeing my FIL he's pretty out there on his views. He's very doom and gloom.
I wish that we had more political parties so everything wasn't always a Red or Blue issue. Most of the time I think I'm sort of in the purple camp. G
I totally get the more moderate conservative views, though. And doom & gloom I can handle. Hell, I kind of get it from a fiscal point of view. I can have a civil discussion with anti-gay marriage folk without devolving into 'WELL YOU'RE A BIGOT THEN.' But like, the civil rights movement was an assault on our values as a nation? What the literal fuck IS that?
Keep in mind too, that BIL & SIL are different races, meaning their kids are biracial. sooooo.

There are certain FB acquaintances that have posted statuses about how we are all doomed! I am laughing because I don't understand the whole "the sky is falling" and "America is going down the shitter" mentality. How do they think this is happening?
Oh come on. Just paste the link in but add some spaces after the slashes or something. Then we can C&P it into our browsers, remove the spaces, and it won't be tracked back to this site.
Anyway, at least they are being honest about why they're pissed off, unlike most people. Honesty is the first step toward eventual sanity and healing. It's all the folks who are in serious denial (Obama's the REAL racist!) that truly worry me.
I am so glad I don't have Facebook. When I read on here about all the doom and gloom... the world is ending, in my head I picture buildings crumbling and we're all wandering around in black & white scrounging for our next meal.
Really people! I'm more concerned about a zombie attack. DH has assured me on several occasions that we are prepared.
