My niece was potty trained at 2 and by 2.5-3 was sleeping with no pull up. My nephew was potty trained at 3.5 and slept in a pull up until he was 6. The poor kid slept so hard that he wouldn't wake up to pee. So yes I think it varies.
Jack will be 5 next month and still wears a pull up. He really struggles with waking himself up at night. I am not sure how we are going to break this habit besides just going in and waking him up to pee at night.
This is the downside of having a kid who has always slept like a rock.
DD1 is 7 and has been potty trained since 2.5 and still wears a pull up. DD2 is 3, potty trained 3 weeks ago and I'm about to start letting her sleep in underwear. It really does depend on the kid.
DD has been potty trained for over a year, and still sleeps with a pull up. She's dry in the morning about half the time, but those are always days when she didn't drink as much. She's a very sound sleeper, and just doesn't wake up if she needs to pee. At this point, I think she'll be in pull ups until her bladder size catches up with her sleep.
It isn't odd bernedine. These are just the things you don't normally know about unless you are involved in the bedtime routine of little kids.
Jack will stay dry in the winter, but that is because he plays less outside. So he is less tired and can wake himself up. In the summer forget about it. He is wiped.

G was potty trained at 3 and still fills his pullup w extra insert. My H's family has alot of "bed wetters" though, so we're just going to have to bear with it until he's old enough to try alarms and wetness sensors, etc.
DD was STTN without accidents at about 4, then regressed a bit when DS was born, and was back to being fine by 5. But she had some friends still in pullups at that time. It's physical at that point - if they sleep hard then they don't wake up to go. There's nothing you can really do to counteract or "fix" it unless you wake them in the middle of the night, which makes no sense for anyone.

Lucy potty trained fairly late- 3.5. She wore a pull-up to bed up til after she turned four. I still make her wear one if we are sleeping someplace other than home. She doesn't wet the bed often, maybe once or twice, but I don't feel like deali g with it. I'd rather spend the money on diapers than have to wash my sil's sheets in the middle of the night
my pediatrician said it could be 4.5 or 5 before a kid's bladder and muscles are strong enough to make it through 8-11 hours of sleep. it's more physiological than psychological (the opposite of daytime potty training).
right now, she wakes up from overnight or naps dry about half of the time.
And, for us C was suddenly really wetting the bed at night and it turned out she had a UTI. I think she was avoiding peeing in the potty but in her sleep couldn't hold it in anymore.
The other night, while in the midst of a bad dream she peed all over H. that was an interesting first.
