I have an awesome recipe for Glogg (it's a hot punch that would be awesome for a winter/holiday party). It's at home though, so I'll have to post it tonight.
LOL, go to the liquor store, ask for help and tell them you'd like a good quality burgundy and what you're planning to do with it. It's easy. I think the last time I had mulled wine, they used fat bastard (so it may not have been burgundy). You'll be heating it and spicing it, so it doesn't need to be a spectacular wine just good enough to drink.
I just picked up the most recent Real Simple and they have recipes for a bunch of different punches, including a bunch with alcohol. I don't know if they're on the website, but if not, I can post the list of them and any recipes you're interested in.
