Due to high risk of infection from all the standing water an mold, combined with our living conditions(no heat, damp tents, etc) my commander decided to send me home. He assured that it was solely for mine and the baby's safety and he wished he could keep me but he didn't feel it was a good idea. I got home yesterday and while I'm glad to be home it really sucks not being there with my soldiers.
We got to pass out water and food, we moved trash and ruined items out to the curb for street side clean up. On election day we helped direct people away from the closed poll sites to other locations where they could cast their vote. We really enjoyed being down there and most residents thanked us and made sure to come and talk and take pictures with us. It was a really humbling experience and I'm glad I got to be a part even if only for a few days. If you could continue the T&P for my kids still on the ground if appreciate it.
Sorry you had to come home early, but I was honestly kind of surprised that they sent you in the first place. It's better to be safe than sorry:-) But I know it sucks not to be there with your soldiers.

I'm with Villainv, I thought it a little odd they sent a pregnant you in the first place. I'm glad your home and many prayers for your soldiers on the ground.
I'm sorry you are feeling upset about leaving early. But I am glad you got to go and help the people that you did. I guarantee they will remember you and how you helped then!
I'm glad to hear you're back safe, even if it's not how you wanted to come home. I thought about you there a lot when I was seeing the conditions and was wondering how long you would be kept there.
