This is the first time I have seen/read about how flashing your headlights can be considered a way of communicating, and thus should be protected by free speech. I have done the warning flashes before, and also appreciate when I see other drivers warn me before venturing into a speed trap. I've never been caught doing it by an officer, but it's nice to know that it technically should be allowed according to this story.
That's really interesting! I always flash my lights when there is something in the road in order to warn other drivers, but I do worry about being pulled over for it.
