I keep "buying" free Kindle books off of Amazon but I haven't read any of them. I feel like such a dork, but I can't help myself. I swear that some day I will read them... some day...
I used to do that too. I would check the site everyday for the new free books until I actually read a few. Yeah, they weren't very good. The only free books that I liked were the classics.
Oh my gosh, I know. I have a ton of free Nook books. I've actually read quite a lot of them and some have turned out to be really good. I've found a couple of new favorite authors that way.
But then there are the other ones...
It seems like I had a better chance of getting a really good book for free a couple of years ago than I do now. I got books by Diana Gabaldon and Michael Malone for free soon after I got my first Nook. Now I keep going "Where are THOSE free ebooks?"
I have downloaded a Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, Ulysses, Walden and Anna Karenina.
I have read approximately 1.5 of these books in my lifetime, and that was purely because it was required to in order to pass a class.
Amazon keeps suggesting I download other profound literary works, as I obviously have such impeccable taste.
I am a snob-hoarder, the worst kind. I probably belong in the lowest level of hell. I can't be sure because I haven't decided which free version of the Divine Comedy to download and not read.
I'm guilty of this, too. I have a ton of free or really cheap books downloaded on my Nook that have just been hanging out there. I'd like to get cracking on reading them, but it seems like there's always another shiny, new book waiting to be read.
I have some of these and the classics are fun to go back through, but to be honest I've been really disappointed with most of the others. Terrible copy editing and/or blatant religious themes hitting you over the head in the end seem to be rampant. I've decided I'm going to go back to paying for books (or getting them from my library) most of the time.

I do the same thing. I figure if I am even sort of interested in reading the book, I might as well get it while it's free.
A few of the free ones have been very good, but more often than not, the ones I have read have been worth what I paid for them. After each bad book, I resolve not to buy free books indiscriminately, but then I get my Pixel of Ink daily email and I am back to buying anything that looks interesting.
Same here. I keep thinking that I'll get to all of them- and maybe it'll happen. There's only 150 books on my kindle after all ;-) I've read a few and while they weren't amazing, they weren't all terrible. That helps a little at least. I've also noticed that some titles come up again a few months after they first time I see them, so I'm not in as much of a rush now to get through them all.

Guilty! I did just finish one that I thought was pretty good, but I also have so many sitting and waiting to be read!
I tried to tell myself I couldn't buy any books this year (and minus The Fault In Our Stars, I haven't), in hopes I would read some. Instead, I've been getting library books. Oops!

LOL I told myself that, too, and then I bought books anyway! Actually I think I set myself a budget of $25 on books for the year... and I think I went over-budget sometime in late February.
Despite that early binge, I really haven't spent a whole lot this year on books. I wasn't bad; I just wasn't as good as I resolved to be!
