Well, we "rearrange" with every move... That averages to once every 14 months or so...
That generally keeps things fresh enough we don't feel a particular need to redecorate. We do keep eyes out for artwork or such that we like all the time, but I don't really think that qualifies as "redecorating".
The couch and loveseat are getting a bit tired, so they will need to be replaced eventually, but it's a matter of function to replace them, not simply because we want to change styles. (although the style will likely change somewhat when we do replace them)
I try and freshen up a room every so often, but I don't do a major redecorating unless furniture changes.
Right now I would love new couches, but with a kid on the horizon, I figure no need since this way when they spit/poop/destroy the current ones I won't completely freak.
i'm always rearranging/remaking/replacing the details. our apartment is tiny and has one functional set up for each room so there is no rearranging of furniture, but the throw pillows, wall decor, and odd little knick knacks are being scrutinized almost daily.
eta: most of them are really cheap make overs so i spend my allowance. if there is something i want that's pricier, we fit it in the budget when there is room and/or save a little big each month towards it.
our apartment is in constant flux. luckily we have like one room so there isn't much to decorate.
we live three blocks from TJ Maxx and Macys, and there is always something I need. lol. today we are getting a standing boutique mirror delivered
I am also in the process of selling some old things on CL so I can buy us new bedding. We last bought a red comforter around Christmas time but I'm sick of the color and I should have known better. I like a calming bedroom.
We've lived in our current house almost 3 years, and that's the longest I've lived anywhere since I lived in my parents' house.
With the exception of bathrooms, I've never "done" a whole room at once so it is hard to say. I buy a few things here and there as I find them and/or they are a good price. I have a feeling we'll want to do a total overhaul of everything eventually but I have no idea when that will be.
Honestly decorating isn't something I really enjoy (I'm not terribly creative and have trouble spending much money on that kind of thing) so I find it doubtful I'll ever be in a place where I want to redo entire rooms every few years. Maybe someday when we're wealthy
We painted and decorated the whole house the weekend we moved in 3 years ago. Since then, every room in the house but the master has been repainted and has all new drapes and furniture. So every 2-5 years? It's my hobby though.
My last sofa was just replaced after 9 years. I don't see replacing my current sofas for at least the same amount of time. My other furniture is antique so all of that, as well as my bedroom, will probably last longer than I do. I will repaint every 5-7 years but the drapery will stay up They're just plain, pleated silk panels. Neutral colors, so I can leave them up and decorate around them.
The only thing I tend to change up is bedding...maybe every 2-3 years I'll splurge on two new sets (one for fall/winter and one for spring/summer)
I spend a lot of time/money decorating a room, so I think that once the room is done I want to enjoy it for awhile.

Our LR has been almost the same for the 8 years we've lived here. I have changed out the curtains once and taken out the rug. other than that - same furniture with a few pillows here and there.
Our bedroom I wouldn't call redecorated - we moved in with white walls and my old bedspread. about a year later we painted, got new curtains and new bedding - so IMO we decorated. but I am ready for new bedding!
I switch out decor with the seasons, but otherwise not much. Once we get new furniture, it stays for a long time. With our move we're getting a new sectional, but otherwise everything else will be the same.
Same stuff 6 years- I live in constant chaos of house repairs, so things will be taken down, fixed, then put back. Other then curtains and pictures being swapped out, thats as far as I have time for.
