I'm not ready either! I forgot that Thanksgiving is early this year, and I also forgot it's already the middle of November.
We have no plans other than stay home and cook, and we'll do our traditional 2-person Thanksgiving vegetarian dinner, starring a curry stuffing recipe that is fab, and probably a lot of wine.

Ugh. My family kind of sucks in this regard. I am the youngest of 6 so my fam is huge. Every year it is a damn battle of who is having it. The only ones with houses big enough to fit everyone is my mom and my oldest sister. My mom is 72 and has COPD. She does Xmas and New Years Day.
For the past few years my older sister gets all "WAH! I have to work the day before Thanksgiving!! I don't think I should host cause I will be TOO TIRED!!". Mind you, we do it pot luck style so everyone chips in. It makes me want to shank her.

DH and I are heading to my brother and his fiancee's house for an early dinner. They're providing turkey, stuffing, and pie. We'll bring a few sides, but I'm not sure what yet.
I won't be shopping. My second job is in retail, so I'll be working. Yikes.
Just figured this out yesterday. Thanksgiving will be at my apartment again. I'm thinking the menu will be similar to last year, with the stuffing my mom traditionally makes, turkey, corn, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and good bread, plus probably some type of green bean dish, whether just steamed or fancied up a little I'm not sure. We might do the roasted sweet potatoes & pears dish that I made last year. It was really good.

It's only going to be H, me, Petite Fleur and my mom. Thanksgiving sucks now. My dad died Thanksgiving weekend of last year (Nov 27) so the whole holiday is kind of tainted now.
I still have to get our turkey. My mom is making stuffing. I'll make soup, turkey, veggies (pan roasted radishes, oven roasted cauliflower, smashed sweet/regular potatoes), and desserts.
I am trying to get myself together so I can do my shopping before the weekend and be done with it.
MIL is coming into town. Oh joy. We will have an awkward 3 person meal again, but it should be better than last year at the very least. Want to join us, Smock?
The menu is as follows: Wine Slow roasted duck Wine Sage garlic green beans wine Parm and garlic mashed potatoes Wine cranberry sauce wine garlic rolls wine A main dish for me that I haven't decided upon yet wine pie- either chocolate chess or pecan wine
I am guessing Brad will still make his stuffing and he wants to make ice cream too, so probably that as well.
I'll be with bf and his family in PA. They don't know where we're going yet, since apparently his dad's side is having a fight over contracting work at his grandma's house...? Yeah, some drama. So there's a good chance we're just staying the six of us at his family's house to avoid all of that.
No idea what we'll be having. I want to make a cheesy spaghetti squash bake, something to fill the mashed potato void. Damn, I miss mashed potatoes.
We'll also be going to bf's 10-year high school reunion the weekend after Thanksgiving, which will be a lot of fun.
the tainted holiday thing sucks. I think it improves with time though--which doesn't help this year.
My parents ae hosting--so my ILs will go to my parent's house too. And my baby sis is flying home. And BIL and BeeBee are NOT coming home this year.
So it should be lotsa fun. and we'll pick up a few 'stray people' who don't have homes--I already invited 1 and I know of 2 more that have standing invites.
My part of the food prep involves relish tray of some sort, pumpkin bread, pumpkin roll, and some other dessert-type-food [probably cookies]
I haven't even thought about it yet, Jessi. I'll peruse the shop and see what looks good. I should get a different bottle for each course, don't you think?
I'm not ready for the holidays at all. We're doing Thanksgiving at my ILs house but I'm really missing my family so if I could, I'd stay home and forget about the holidays this year.
Your menu looks superb, Muddled. I'd love to come, but your MIL said I'm not welcome in your house after the last time, when I tried to steal you away from Brad.

HA! You are sooooo busted. My MIL would never say a thing like that.
She would pay you good money to steal me away from Brad. Good money, my friend.
What are your plans? We're going to my mom's house for dinner. H has asked if we can stop at his parent's house. I begrudgingly agreed (given that it's a holiday and they can't come to our house since they're hosting a meal at their house), with a few stipulations. It has to be a short visit and if DS starts getting sick we're out the door immediately. No questions. I'll be packing a change of clothes for DS, a ton of wipes and benadryl. Just in case.
What's on the menu? Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, can shaped cranberry sauce, homemade bread, gravy. Dessert will likely be pumpkin pie and apple pie.
ETA: I forgot. My mom has a thing with green vegetables. There has to be one on the table at every meal. So there'll be a random bowl of broccoli on the table. No one will take any and my little brother (he's 18) will ask my mom why she's crowding the table o' starch with something like broccoli. It happens every year.
Will you be shopping Thanksgiving Day? No. We'll be out on Black Friday though. I'm need to ask my mom if she'll watch DS for a few hours while we go out. We want to get all of DS' presents on that day.

I'm hosting. For 20-some people. (I think)
Menu: cheese and crackers fresh vegetables and dips tortilla chips and cheese/salsa dip turkey mashed potatoes alton brown’s roasted broccoli green bean casserole (in all its canned goodness) sweet corn sausage stuffing homemade rolls chocolate cake pumpkin pie
I will be going shopping in the middle of the night. Mostly so my mom will refuse to come with.
Dixie, I'm sorry. It does get better with time. Muddled your menu sounds great.
I am so excited. This year is the first year I will be away for a major holiday. My parents, dh and I will be in Italy. So pasta and wine are on the menu. I can not wait!

We already celebrated with my dad's family this weekend although my dad didn't show up. We have more than 100 people that come to it, so they rent out a hall and have a huge potluck before actual Thanksgiving.
DH usually has to work on Thanksgiving, but he somehow managed to get it off this year. This will be the first year we've been able to spend Thanksgiving dinner together since he started this job. We're traveling to my moms for dinner. We might travel to FIL's beforehand if he decides not to go to DH's grandma's.
We do a potluck and most of the basics are covered by the same people every year. I think I'm going to make the rolls, caramel apple cheesecake, pumpkin bread, and corn fritter casserole.
I'm probably not doing any shopping this year. With all of the stores moving back the sales, it has ruined Black Friday for me. Plus I'm not shopping on Thanksgiving out of principle. I think it's really shitty to do to all of those employees.
Going to my cousin's house. She supplies the house and my aunt and grandmother provide most of the food. (Though, I am getting the turkey with my store points) And cousin's in-laws will bring a ham and another side.
I will be baking a cake.
F TO THE NO! I used to work in retail, and the thought of stores opening at 8 on Thanksgiving makes me mad! :@
We go to both the ILs and my parents'. I love Thanksgiving. The usual. Turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes..pie. Mmmm, pie. Hellz no. I don't shop on Black Friday, either. I shop from the comfort of my laptop on Amazon.

UGH! I'd completely forgotten about this! Yuck!
Since my entire family is going to be at my sister's house out of state, I have the lovely pleasure of hosting thanksgiving at our house with the ILs. ICK! I committed to it a month ago, so I guess I can't cancel. I'll need to stock up on wine as well...
