DH and I make 6! Actually my company is paying out the largest quarterly bonus since 2007. We had a "town hall" meeting two weeks ago, the CFO from the UK came to visit. He said they've seen substantial growth in the US markets because of the stimulus money. He said in Europe, the banks are all being tight fisted, business. Has slowed to a crawl so we are pretty much carrying the company right now. My company and DHs company have both been hiring consistently throughout the recession. I'm not even going to respond to the war in women argument since tintin is ignoring everything.

I feel so educated after reading this post. I never would have guessed that owning a wiener while having an opinion that doesn't completely tow the vagina line makes one a basement dwelling, balding sweaty middle aged virgin who does nothing more than watch Fox News. It looks like fair mindness and reasoned debate wins tonight.
Tin tin, just because you lack knowledge on the subject doesn't mean that "none of this is new".
Do you realize that Arizone legislation has been passed which allows a doctor to lie or withhold information about the health of an unborn child and bear no liability for it? That's new.
Do you realize that Kansas had a very restrictive abortion bill (don't remember if it passed or not) and that part of the bill would also allow doctors to lie to women about prenatal problems that may cause them to choose abortion, such as an ectopic pregnancy, which is fatal in most cases.
Did you just get that, tin tin? How is that not a war on women, when they're passing bills that doctors can't tell you that you're going to DIE?
Ask yourself - do you think that these (mostly male) politicians would ever pass a law saying it was ok for doctors to lie to their male patients?
The Kansas bill also forces doctors to tell women that abortion causes breast cancer, which is a total lie that has been debunked by medical science. Oh, and you know how Republicans are all for small government and low taxes? In Kansas they're taxing the hell out of abortions and all over the country they're inserting goverment into the lives of women in a big way! Do you know how few abortion clinics there are due to attempts by Republicans to legislate and regulate them out of existence?
Seriously, can you not put yourself in our shoes for just a few seconds and understand that there is no other way to interpret that but as a war on women. Evidently we are but mere vessels and our health, our well being and our free will do not matter as much as the babie we might be able to bear. And if it kills us, oh well.
Do you realize that Congress has decided that women who are raped while serving their country abroad will not be provided abortion coverage? That's new. Can you think of a legal medical service that Congress has denied to male soldiers?
Why can't you accept that maybe, just maybe, women are a little more up on the news when it comes to this topic than perhaps you are? And maybe it matters more to them than it matters to you!
Can you really not see how repugnant Akin's remarks were? Basically he was saying that its medically impossible to become pregnant as a result of rape, so anyone who says they are did not suffer a "legitimate" rape.
More proof that women are a bit more educated about women's bodies!
You know what else women understand? We understand that doctors frequently prescribe birth control pills for medical reasons that have nothing to do with contraception - like endemetriosis. You're so busy belittling Susan Fluke and her slutty need for free pills that you completely overlook that she was driven to testify after a lesbian friend died because she couldn't afford the pills that had been prescribed by her doctor, which the university declined to provide for her. I've heard so many stupid guys say "just let them buy their own condoms, no one's buying them for me". Condoms do not slow the growth of tumors.
All across the country, anti-abortion forces were initiating laws requiring invasive, uncomfortable and medically unneccessary trans vaginal ultra sounds. THat's THIS election cycle.
There is a pattern here. Republicans like you say "Oh, don't pay attention to any of that. It's the economy that matter now. Don't look at that man behind the curtain." Meanwhile Republicans are busy passing a huge amount of new legislation that restricts abortions or tramples on women's health rights. Just because they're not declaing it their number one priority doesn't mean it's not happening! They would rather no one noticed and fought it.
Just because you haven't noticed the war on woman doesn't mean it doesn't exist. What kind of logic is that?

No it wasn't. One man made one comment that was twisted and spun by the left into something he never said.
Two. Two men publicly made two comments that each disparaged rape victims. And one of those men - the one who thinks you can't get pregnant from legitimate rape - was appointed by Republican leadership to the committee on science and technology.
Plus the Republican candidate for President suggested the most important issue facing working women was being home in time to fix dinner.
I don't know why anyone would even engage with Tintin. He can harp on all of his Fox news highlights all he wants, but we won. So he can sit in the corner with his sour grapes.
