My daughter is 5 months and we are having some sleep issues. She is still swaddled and sleeps in her crib. The good news is she goes down easy for naps and goes to bed on her own at night. Then she sleeps for a six hour stretch straight. Then she gets restless....
From about 3 until 7 she is tossing and turning and waking up fussing/crying. Putting her pacifier back in her mouth puts her back to sleep. So I end up going back and forth from my room to hers an average of five times a night between those hours.
I'm torn.... Do I just deal with it for a while and hope she grows out of it? I also need to get rid of the swaddle eventually. I've thought about taking her out of the swaddle and doing CIO. But I feel bad doing both at once. I also thnk she is a bit young for CIO, but during my fifth time of going in to her room at night it sounds tempting.
Last night I tried feeding her when she first woke up. That didn't go good. She thought it was time to wake up, and was up for the next two hours.
What should I do? Just continue putting in the pacifier and be thankful it's not worse? But she will need to be un-swaddled eventually (my one attempt at that did not go good).....
How long is she awake before you put the pacifier back in? At that age, DD would wake up when her pacifier came out but if you left her long enough (we never went longer than a few minutes), she would sometimes fall back asleep. She found her thumb around then.
Can you try swaddling with her arms out? That way she still has the feeling of the swaddle while still being able to move her arms and hopefully put the paci back in by herself or suck her thumb/hand.

We stopped swaddling at 4 months when DD and DS learned to roll over. I would either take her arms out or transition to sleeping with a sleep sack. It can also be that she is at some mental milestone, learning a new skill, and it can lead to some restlessness at night. I would not CIO just yet.
It does seem like I need to get rid of the swaddle. I guess I will start working on that.... And maybe wait longer at night before I give her the paci. I always feel like I need to put it in her mouth before she wakes completely up, but maybe she would fall back asleep if I gave her a chance...
We got rid of the swaddle at 5 months when he started rolling, it was a BITCH to do! I would definitely get rid of it now. We did 1 arm out for a few days, then both arms out for a few days, then into a sleep sack. Ditto PP I would not do CIO just yet, it could be a phase. But what do I know, here I sit rocking DS back to sleep at 1:30 am, we're on week 4 of this "phase" :-\
