how amazing - congrats! and that is a great date to celebrate year after year! (it happens to be my grandmother's 94th birthday, and my niece's 19th).
I have 3 boys - so any time you have questions just ask - pm any time, etc.
I'm not sure what type of situation they are leaving - but I'm guessing the adoption agency will have some support for you and your husband about helping the boys out with their transition, etc? That would be my first concern - making sure you are ready (mentally, knowledge, etc) for what could be a difficult time - and how to make it easiest for both of them.... but I'm sure that's already your #1.
As for stuff to have - i agree- anything to burn off energy is key with boys!! If you are in a warm state - consider getting a playset of some sort - climbing/sliding/jumping is what my boys do most -and they will find a way to do it no matter where they are
Play mats are nice- help avoid a lot of injury in my house! We have a huge one that looks like wood flooring (got it on ebay) so it doesn't scream KIDS- but protects then when they are ... well, acting like boys
my 3 boys are into all different things - so I agree- goign shopping - or just giving them one of those "toy books" from target to circle things he (the 4yo) likes is a great idea before the holidays... to give you ideas- and kids always love doign that.
my twins are 3yo - and in the past year have been very into any type of matchbox car, little tracks... the Fisher Price wheelies playset (stands tall) is awesome for a 22mo boy....
Imaginex superhero toys are a huge hit with all of my boys - the batman tower, etc.
have flushable wipes for butt wiping the 4yo - so much eaiser than TP... but use sparingly b/c they still can clog a toilet. (and yes, it's sad that this is what i think about when someone says what to need for a 4yo, lol).
Bjorn potty (the full sized one) is great to have for the 4yo to still have around if you don't have a bathroom right near where you'll spend most of your time... and then the younger one can use when he's ready to PT.
sorry - a novel- rambling - I'm so happy for you - how amazing and wonderful!!!
