UPDATED: While looking for a picture to PIP, I ran across the dress, in my size, in both colors, new with tags on eBay for $65 each! So I bought them both, for not much more than one of them cost. Very MM!
They have other colors like brown and lilac. Interesting to see they have just the top, too...it's a very flattering top for me, I might have to get that also!
Original Post:
I went looking for a dress for an upcoming wedding, telling myself that I wouldn't buy another black dress. Sure enough, I ended up with this one -- it was the only one (looked like a catalog return).

Now looking online, I see there is a gray version.
What do you guys think about the gray? I'm worried it looks "cheaper" because you can see the lace more clearly and less classic. But, I have a few other black dress options -- none I feel fabulous in, but reasonable options given how few occasions I have to wear a cocktail dress.
So, gray or black? I have coloring similar to the model, with maybe slightly darker skin.
Updated again, lol: Here's the picture of the gray one from eBay...it appears to be much more of a gunmetal gray than the Macy's picture appears to be. Does that help with the MoB impression?
Any suggestions on styling either would also be welcome!
I prefer the grey. Black is SO boring, and it's not like the grey is....yellow. It's still a neutral that can be worn for many other fancy occasions. If the cut and style is one that works for you and the price is right, I say go for it.

I have the grey one! I tried the black as well, but, like you, I always wear black. I wore it to my brother's wedding this summer, and got lots of compliments. You could always order it, and then just keep whichever one you like best.
I actually like the black better. The grey is ok, but I don't like how much of the lace you can see...if it were one piece of lace, I think it would look better, but since it is little strips, I'm just not loving it.

VERY $$MM. Good job. I love that dress. Very classic.

Great job on the find. But I also vote for the black. Nothing says classic than a black lace dress. Or if the gray does end up being darker IRL, wear that. Definitely not the lighter gray.
Is it a metallic lace, or is that just the beading that is giving it shine? It's hard to tell from the picture.
The lace itself isn't metallic, but there's some metallic thread on the edges of the lace, plus the beading. Be forewarned--it does kind of shed beads.
