Don't have kids, but I had an imaginary friend when I was little.
have a nearly-4 year old boy and he's recently started developing "imaginary friends"...
Hmmmmm...
he tells me about the princess on the horse who stands beside him, talks to him, etc.. and makes me "pet" the horsey (which mind you, is just the air). LOL! Its funny to me, but he's nothing but serious about it!
"scoot over mommy, you're sitting on the princess girl!" lolol

I had imaginary friends.
There is a great podcast called "Stuff Mom Never Told You" it's through Howstuffworks.com. They did a podcast about imaginary friends that was really good. I highly recommend you check it out.

One of mine was Casey. He totally got me into trouble. Then he was killed in an apartment robbery (his apartment was being robbed) and somehow there was a parrot involved.

Yes. He calls them "the children". Makes me think of the Children of the Corn, but they are just the kids he visits at school when he's a firefighter.... So I think we're o.k.
My kids never had imaginary friends...however, my DS would morph into different people (sometimes animals) and would stay like that for weeks. There was a time I had to feed him in a dish on the floor for a week because he was a cat named Twyla. He would crawl around meowing and rubbing up against everyone's legs.....for a week. He would also only respond to the name of the character he was during that time frame. Daycare got so used to it, they'd ask what his name was upon drop off!

DS doesn't have imaginary friends yet, but he does like to pretend he is an animal (usually a dog or a cat). He also likes to pretend like he's Toby from AstroBoy. I'm a little surprised he hasn't devined an imaginary friend, with his sense of humor and imagination.
Example: The other night he smeared ketchup all over his face and gleefully announced "I'm Red Beer the Pirate!". I tried to tell him it was "Red Beard", but I was too busy trying not to laugh.
LOL Dori, my youngest doesn't have an imaginary friend (although she mimics her sister and occasionally adds an "oh and my girrlfriend Hammer" ) but she turns into "Baby Chauncey" who is the world happiest infant. Sometimes, when shes freaking out, I'll be like, hey does Baby Chauncey want to play? And all is right with the world again hah
Yep, my DS did. He was probably about 4. His imaginary friend's name was Jack and he lived in the condo across the street with his grandma. He also went to my DS's daycare and apparently we brought him with us every day. Jack was naughty and my DS always got blamed for what he did!
