If you were going to get gifted a gift card specifically for travel, what form would you want it in? This is for my parents and will be $600, and I hope they will use it on flights.
Airline specific GC Visa GC Cash
Also, Parents/others, my BIL asked us to get the kids giftcards for Xmas to Kohls or Marshalls etc, to get clothes. They are 6 and 4. That is completely lame, right? We usually get them a nice pair of shoes, clothes, and books for Christmas (ok one small toy thrown in). We do get their sizes ahead of time so I'm sure the clothes fit... we are pretty practical with their gifts, is this ok? FYI-the other set of kids will actually have gifts to open and are the same age, and everyone will be together on Christmas day, presumably, opening presents.

for the travel issue - if i really wanted them to use it for plane tickets (ie to come visit as we live across the country from our parents) i would let them know that and would probably still give it in cash. my parents done always fly one airline, so a giftcard to a particular airline would not be best for them, if yours always fly one airline, i could see that working.
as for the kids - i agree totally lame. i would probably buy a small toy for them to open and then to honor parents wishes do the gift card thing as well. but only gift cards for a 4 and 6 year old, i think is silly and they will likely be upset.
