Xmas Gifts You Bought

What are you getting your family and friends? Maybe this will help others with ideas for gifts!

For H's family book & snack exchange:

Michael Crichton's "Congo" and Monkey Bread
"The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe" with scone mix

For my family:

4 Basic Ts for brother
Nutcracker tickets for mom
ipod shuffle for dad
The Signature Room GC for aunt and uncle
Omaha steaks package for other uncle

It feels so good to be done shopping before Thanksgiving!

DH and I pretty much finalized our list yesterday. The only things I have left are my Dad and what to get DH for his stocking (no gifts this year, spending the money on the house instead.)

Mom-spa gc
Sister-tea kcups, gas gc and visa gc

MIL and her DH and BIL and SIL are both getting-personalized cutting board, set of holiday spreaders and gc to the local "fancy" grocery store
FIL-squirrel proof bird feeder and a special "christmas" seed blend the store had

Nieces and nephews-$20 and $10 iTunes gc

I am always amazed by people shopping early. I am currently trying to get through planning for DD's birthday party this weekend, and her birthday the next weekend (family gathering).

Christmas shopping won't begin until Dec.

So far - For my Sis & BIL - Ruth Chris gift card and some small token gifts (LEGO erasers and coasters with their initial), For my Uncle - a Whole Foods store gift card and some movie tix, For DD1 - the Fisher Price Little People Disney castle, a Snow White dress (cheapie version), and some books. For DD2 - a Fisher Price play purse, and some books.

I need to make a list so I don't overbuy for the kids! For DD1 I still want to get stocking stuffers (Cinderella DVD, bubble bath, etc) and maybe one more little toy. For DD2 I want to get a ride on/walker toy and some stocking stuffers. Her birthday is 2 days before Christmas so she's getting a PBK chair for that. Also maybe some clothes for both.

For My Family:
I have my older brother as my name gift: Getting him a backpacking backpack and something else, not sure yet. He lives in Korea so it needs to be easily packable. Ideas anyone?

DH has one of my younger brothers: he's getting him speakers for his computer, and probably something small as well.

My the Parents: Airline giftcards, or cash, or something.

For the kids:
#1 (7): Lite Brix car, and a few clothes
#2 (5): Bella Ballerina shoes and a sweater dress w/ tights.

Good idea.

Can we make this a sticky post? I have to get gifts for a bunch of relatives and I never know what to get, so ideas for "generic gifts" would be really helpful.

MH: Under Armour undershirts, craft beer-related stuff, Nueske's bacon, carabiner keychain

Mom: no idea - possibly chipping in with siblings to send her and a friend on a short cruise?
Sister: pearl necklace and bracelet set
Brother: nice bottle of liquor

FIL: IDK, probably new sheets or towels

friend: stuff for her trip to London (guide book, travel accessories, etc.)

young cousins: adopting an animal at a local zoo in their names, maybe a small gift to open (iTunes cards, stuffed animals, etc.)

aunts: probably Dunkin Donuts gift cards again

adult cousins (three married couples in their 30s): no idea. Any suggestions? Last year we got them each a set of towels.

Sister - Vera Bradley Hipster bag that I got on sale. It pained me to buy a Vera bag, but she loves them.

Mom - Sugar free caramel corn from Harry & David using their F&F 25% off. I will add something else, maybe a leather camera case?

Dad- No flipping clue, he is so hard to shop for.

BIL - What ever new release movie he wants or something LSU that is YTBD.

I buy as I see things and think of people. I really need more ideas. This is all I have so far:

MIL's parents - 40" LED TV
MIL - juicer
My parents - Roomba
My sister - Tablet with keyboard

I get my parents the same thing every year. Dad and step mom get a restaurant GC and movie theater GC as do mom and stepdad. Nephews are getting Gamestop GCs. Our family doesn't buy for other adults.

I haven't completely decided, but these are my current thoughts.

Sister - LCD HDTV, but this is a combo Xmas and grad gift

Mom - cashmere sweater, ebooks or Amazon GC, spa GC

DH - clothes, kitchen/grill gadgets

Friends - small stuff like kitchen gadgets, homemade cookies

SIL - gift certificate to a recreational cooking school. She has fun at a class there last year. Need something else too.

Brother and SIL- gift certificate to cheese shop, some jarred cheese toppings from crate and barrel and cheese knives.

That is all I've done so far.

All I have bought is the Batman movies on Blu Ray. I'm getting DH a blu ray player.
I have a few things planned:
MIL & FIL: possibly a camera for their tv so we can skype on that
SIL 1: xbox game
BIL: no clue
SIL 2: a framed photo collage and tshirt
my dad: no clue
stepmom: serveware
bro: watch box
sil: no clue
step sister: no clue

ugh I have a ways to go!

Nieces: We got awesome seats for my two nieces and great niece to see Maroon 5 in Dallas. They were pretty pricey, so we are also getting them each cashmere scarves, another small gift for each and stocking stuffers. They are like our kids, so this is why we are extravegant with them.

H: I have no idea. He wants fishing gear and pool stuff.

Nephew 1 - Teen - Cash
Nephew 2 - Child - Video game
Nephew 3 - Toddler - Giant-ass floor puzzle

We're not getting each other presents - we took a big trip this fall, and we're counting that. We might do some candy and stuff for our stockings.

I have the kids shopping done, clothes mostly. For DD2 I got some games for her leap pad and a dream light that she has been wanting. For our exchange student I got clothes and a pandora braclet so that I can add to it for other gift giving holidays before she goes home.

Mom & MIL: season tickets to playhouse.
Niece: Play food
Niece 2: ??

I am pretty much done and wrapped everything that I know that I am going to need, waiting on the others like school gifts and such that I am not sure what they are going to do.

Here's what I've figured out (maybe) so far:

FIL and MIL: New digital camera

Mom: planner, skechers go walk shoes (her request), something else (not sure what yet)

Dad: warm stuff - flannel lined jeans, super warm socks, Nate Silver's book, maybe another book... like Gone Girl?

Husband: Kinect? Sweatpants? cargo pants? the new Grand Theft Auto Game? I'm hurting for ideas here.

Nephew: subscription to Rick Jr. and books or an action figure

BIL and SIL: gift card for dinner maybe (they don't have a lot of money right now, so I'd like to get them something that gets them out of the house)

I feel your pain. My DH's family usually draws names on Thanksgiving.
