DD started her new program. She's doing well and her therapists have given us good things to do at home.
Her feeding therapist recommended giving her grabbable and easily dissolve able foods to play with (encourage self feeding and reducing choking risk) when we give her meals. Last night I gave her a graham cracker, or "cookie," to play with. She kept bringing it to her face and sniffing it and putting it on her lips and then licking them when she put it down. As we finished the meal, I took half of her cookie and took a bite. Each time I did it I would say, "Petite Fleur do!" and she would bring it up to her mouth. She hasn't figured out biting down yet so with another technique from her therapist I helped her to bite down making sure she got a piece each time. She loved it.
In the bathtub, with only a minute of hand over hand showing her, she started lifting up her toy cups to see the water go out of them. She has also started slashing with her hands, something we've been working on for months.
She is now bringing both hands to midline and using both hands together on a toy, to hold or play with it. It's still difficult for her but she's doing it spontaneously and we see it very often with her bigger toys (that she used to struggle to play with one handed).
She's really coming along. Still slow but definitely making progress. Now if she would only start eating for other people. She's not picky about WHAT she eats, just WHO she eats for. I need my almost 2 year old to finally hit 20lbs.

Awww, this whole stage of toddlerhood is such a fun age of discovery and new abilities! It's fun to sit back and be amazed at them and their sense of pride and accomplishment.
And yeah, a graham cracker will motivate me to do a lot of things.
