How long did you bleed after the insertion of your IUD?
I know amount and length varies for each person. But I'm curious. I get mine in 3 weeks and I'm pretty nervous. Excited but nervous and it's all I can think about.
Mirena here too. No bleeding, but I had almost continuous cramping for three months. After that, I was good. Never had a period on it, but I had a depo shot before I got it inserted. (Had blood clot, had to stop taking birth control. Depo was temporary until I figured out what I wanted to do.) I love it and am on my second one. PS, second time insertion was much easier than the first.
My doc said sex whenever I felt up to it. We waited a couple days, since it was inserted while I was on my period & my H isn't a big fan of bloody sex.
A week maybe? Then my periods were super light for the first 3 months or so. Sex can resume as soon as you want. It's effective immediately. Take 3-4 ibuprofen before insertion.
Well, this may not apply since I got mine 8 weeks postpartum. I was breastfeeding so I didn't get my period back until 12 months postpartum (10 months post IUD insertion). But I didn't bleed or spot at all. I had the Paragard.

My gyno is going to give me something to loosen my cervix and a script for some loratabs afterwards. Ibuprofen does jack shit for me.

Lightly, every day for about six weeks, but I have PCOS and endometriosis so take my experience with a grain of salt. Silver lining: I haven't had a period in over a year and a half. Love it.

Take the lortab. Mine gave me cytosec to loosen my cervix and I had labor contractions for about sixteen hours. The contractions were way worse than the insertion. Terrible, horrible pain.

I'm on month two after getting my Mirena. The spotting and 10 day periods are making me homicidal. I'm hoping it stops. Insertion also hurt a LOT. Like a lot. Only for about 15 seconds, but still. I was crampy for days.
I had light spotting for the entire year I had it. Never went more than a couple days without spotting. Hope you have better luck than I did. I hated that thing.

I had cramping and spotting on and off for about six weeks. Then no period for the first two or so years. Then super light periods. I'm at five years now, and my periods are now pretty regular but so light as to require only a panty liner or a light tampon. I'm getting it replaced in January.

Spotting every day for almost 3 months. It was worse after intercourse, but since I got the IUD while H was deployed, and it was years ago, I don't actually remember all the details of when/how long. I know I went in for a checkup, they trimmed the strings, but basically said I was normal.
After about a year, barely a period. I'd cramp, but not bleed, pretty much monthly.
Yea, go for the strong stuff. I'd had a kid, and it still hurt like a bitch. Getting it removed was no fun either.
And just to prepare you, after a few months, you won't be able to feel the strings (you are supposed to feel around for them once a month, I think) because they will coil up. No cause for wide-spread board panic if you don't believe it fell out. (from what I've heard, it's pretty hard to miss that happening) And if you think it might have, stop all vag play (because you might have an infection or tearing if it fell out) and head to the gyno for a date with the dildo cam.
