How often do you buy new sheets? Out of necessity not just because you see cute sheets? We usually use the same set for 6 months and then switch to our flannel set the other 6 months. I only have the two sets and I find I buy new about every 2 years.
We've only had to stop using one set of sheets in the 6 years we've been married - and that's because we had an extra-deep mattress and the sheets were regular and forcing it on there every week eventually ripped the pocket seams. (I looooved their color, so I put them on week after week without rotating them.) But I still have queen sheets from my first college apartment that are in great shape, so 2002? Yeah, a decade.
I've never quite figured this out, but these posts always indicate I'm super gentle on things. Not sure what it is that I do differently than other people.
I`ve bought new sheets twice because my old ones literally shredded apart in the wash...and a few other times just because they were looking super faded. I buy cheaper sheets - if I bought high end ones I would expect them to last a lot longer, but the $20 Costco ones are usually what I grab.

this is funny because I was just mentally going through our sheets in my head - and my favorite set is probably the oldest. And they're from Costco. MIL bought them for MH (then boyfriend) when he was getting his masters in 2004. They've held up really well.
We've never bought new sheets. We've got his college apartment sheets and then the two sets we got off our wedding registry 4 years ago.
I'd love to relegate them all to the back of the linen closet and buy new ones. That match. But they are all still working and not stained - so....I dunno. Not a priority sadly.

I *want* to buy new sheets about every other year. Reality is, we've only ever bought new sheets once in 5+ years. And it was out of necessity b/c we forgot and let our movers pack all the sheets, which resulted in us arriving at our new place with nothing to sleep on for a week+. Whoops.

We go through a set of sheets every year I think it's because I have some type of restless leg syndrome (self-diagnosed). We get holes in our sheets where my legs lay. My legs end up moving a lot when I'm trying to fall asleep and they must while I sleep too because every year around black Friday I am buying new sheets. Last year I bought a more expensive set than usual- big mistake- those shredded in half the time than any other brand I've tried.

Never out of necessity, always because I like buying them. We have about 6 sets that I rotate. I tend to buy solid colors in coordinating colors so they always match the bedding.
I am similar to Tarheels, I tend to be gentler on things than others, we have this conversation in my family A LOT.

I don't have a lot of "normal" sheets but I swear I have like 4 sets of the flannel sheets from Target. I see the cute designs and they are always on sale for like $20 so I grab a few. And then my husband complains that they make him too hot and he throws all the covers off the bed when he sleeps.

We usually have two sets in rotation. The two I got for our wedding started getting holes in them right around our 5th anniversary, so I tossed them and replaced last summer. So about 5 years?

My newest sheets are from 2007 when I got married. We use the sferra set all the time on our bed, but we have 2 other sets that we rarely use (we prefer the sferra).
The queen mattress (in the nursery), has 3 sets of sheets that I bought around 2002-2004. They're all still in good shape, but that bed has rarely been used since i got married and we bought a King.
I have twin XL sheets for my son's room, but my parents gave me those sets with the mattresses when they sold their river house. Those sheet sets are from around 2002. Twin XL sheets are a PITA to find, especially for a little boy. I just buy cute pillowcases for him, and he's happy with that.
The next sheet set I'll probably buy is a queen set for when my daughter outgrows the crib. That will be in a year or so.
