I haven't watched it yet but the sound has been off for the last two episodes and hasn't been matching their lip movement.

Modern family was ok, but the Middle had no sound at all. Was that everywhere or just our station?

Or are we the only ones who watch the middle?

Yes. It kept saying things like "Phil hits the lights. The fireplace lights up"

That's the narration for the blind. Every once in a while DS will hit something on a remote and ours will do that.
