Remember the Saved by the Bell episode where Jesse Spano is taking the energy pills to study for the SATs (I think?). And she's all whacked out and Zack Morris confronts her and she's all "I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so... SCARED!"
This is how I feel about the fact that I delivered at 8:05am on Monday and still haven't pooped. Per Pugz's instructions I have been religious about the colace. I even downed prune juce this morning. But with a 3rd degree tear that apparently went through the sphincter muscle AND what we suspect is a broken or bruised tailbone, I'm SO SCARED TO POOP!!!! Do I push at all? Not push and just sit there willing it to happen? What!?
I feel like I will deserve a Medal of Honor for courage after I poop.
Guys. I'm scared. I'm calling the dr in the morning if it doesn't happen by then.
Update: I pooped at 6:15 am. Nothing to write home about but things are moving! Cool washcloth and counterpressure helped. Thanks for talking me through this guys!
Don't stress too much about it. I had an episiotomy and a pretty bad tear and the first poop was really NBD. I was scared because I'd heard so much about it here but it was a piece of cake.
ETA: Also, I think it took me a few days to go because I was plain old cleaned out. I pretty much crapped all over the table for the entire 3.5 hours I pushed. I had the mirror to witness this.

Okay, this makes me feel better. I pushed for 3.5 hours too and though I didn't have a mirror, I know I pooped. And I obviously didn't eat much over 20 hours of labor so maybe just give it time?
the first one was not bad for me since I'd been good about the colace, it was when I got home and wasn't taking it regularly enough that things got really painful!
You should ask your dr about magnesium (I think that's what it is). DH hadn't gone for 4 days or so after a surgery when he was on a ton of pain meds and that finally did the trick. It's just like a cherry drink that's OTC.

It took about a week for me. We had to have a plumber come out afterwards. Twice. :-( The smartest thing I did was choose to use the bathroom with a short distance b/w the toilet and the wall so that I cold get some leverage. I can't believe I'm sharing this.

Applying counter pressure on your lady bits while pooping is suuupppeer helpful. As is a stool if you are short like me....but in the end it's going to happen eventually. It might suck, it might not but regardless you're going to get through it!
