R wants to do "12 days of cookies" for his co-workers this year. Aside from meaning a LOT of work for the two of us (I am the baker, he's chief dishwasher) ... it means I have to find 12 different cookies to make.
I got to about 7 different ones before I ran out of ideas. Suggest your favorite christmas-specific cookies, please?
What I already have are sugar cookies, molasses snaps, kolacky, pecan tassies, shortbread, andes surprise (LOL), mocha crackles/crinkles, gingerbread men, and pfefferneusse (sp?) ... help. I feel like I'm missing some major categories.
There are a lot of good ideas there. You've already covered my favorite (shortbread and anything with pecans). I have a really good copycat recipe for Starbucks bars with white chocolate and cranberries....I forget what they are called.
I always find posts like these interesting, because people usually make cookies for Christmas that I think of as 'any day' cookies and never considered making at Christmas.

I've made those cigerette-shaped rolled cookies dipped in chocolate - so good! Add some bars like magic cookie bars & cranberry orange bars to make it easier on yourself
I like to make my usual chocolate chip cookies, but I use white chocolate chips (ghiradelli) and craisins. They look Christmasy with the red and white.

This is what I'm baking this year:
Chocolate peanut butter balls Peppermint patties Oatmeal peppermint dipped cookies Chocolate crinkle cookies Peanut butter cup cookies Kahlua Truffles Orange Truffles Window Cookies Shortbread Cookies Gingerbread cookies White Chocolate Macademia Chocolate chip and walnuts Biscotti Macaroons
My tip is to come up with a list of all ingredients, to prevent multiple trips to the store.

EveryDay with Rachel Ray this month has twelve christmas cookies from three different base doughs. It'd make your work a bit easier. DH loves "holly candy." I'd never heard of it, but it's basically rice crispy treats but with corn flakes instead of rice crispy, green food coloring, and Red Hots for berries.
