What color would you paint a giant pantry? Think like a typical walk-in closet - but it's a pantry. It has one window - but it's east facing and ground level, so not tons of natural light except right at sunrise. And we're probably going to put a roller shade on that window and leave it closed anyway since my baking supplies and canned goods don't need a suntan.
We put a shitton of recessed lights in there though. Right now with just primer and no shelves it's like the surface of the sun.
Would you paint it something fun? Or just leave it white? Or some other answer? I could just continue the hallway color in there. (it's down a hallway from my kitchen. Kitchen is going to be green. Hall is tan.) Shelves will be basic white coated wire mesh.

Go bold!
I painted my parents' pantry a rich buttercream color - it was sort of retro. Definitely use semi-gloss paint. I'd check the oops paint at HD or Lowes before shelling out $30 for the pantry.
Pick a color that makes you smile when you see it, but you might be afraid to put it on the front of your house or on your living room walls. I love having rooms or spaces like that...it makes whatever chore you are doing in there a bit more enjoyable.
It is a great use for oops paint....great suggestion.
I would tell him that the pantry is the perfect place to add more of his colors to the house. =)
I have to admit - I'm feeling like that is a sucky option because I'm the one who does all the laundry (this is part of our official division of household duties. I like laundry.) so I think of the laundry room as MINE.
And the pantry is mine. I'm the one with the walk-in closet's worth of specialized cooking equipment.
And frankly I was thinking of the office as mine (it's where my copious craft crap is going to go) too - but then he started talking about putting exercise equipment in there too. Boooooo.
apparently in my head, unbenownst to me, I'd decided that really the whole house is my territory. He can have the basement storage room and the shed. And paint them blazing yellow for all I care.
But when I try to object to him having an opinion in those areas of the house I realize I sound like this:
I would prioritize rooms people will see over rooms most people won't. It's not like you're going to go sit and read a book in the pantry (or laundry room) so let him have those.
I love the stencil that House of Smith's did on their blog. www.thehouseofsmiths.com/2010/07/pantry-remix.html Since your pantry is larger I would lean toward a larger pattern stencil, but I think it looks fun and cute and you could do a white or lighter color on top of the sunset color. Stencilling isn't everyone's style but I really liked it in this pantry.
