This is why it has been thrown out into the garage until maybe 4 years old or so. This is the SECOND time this has happened, just not as bad as the first. Both times he's just tripped and blammed his head right along the edge. He's a complete klutz though, so take it for what it's worth.
I'm sure (probably?) most kids aren't as klutzy as him. Tons of people love that toy so I guess it's not a death trap. I just always thought the edges were so harsh. I mean, none of his toys have such hard edges and I covered the edges of my table just in case, then there's this toy that has them!
I bought it too. I think part of having wooden toys is they are harder/sharper when fallen on. Plastic is easier to make smooth and will "give" a little when hit.

yeah, totally true. I just thought it was weird they beveled the corner and didn't just bevel all the edges. I don't know, guess I probably wouldn't have thought about it if he didn't hit his head. The first time was when he was just learning to sit and was still wobbly. He loved to sit and spin all the little letter pieces. He just toppled forward and hit it and got a bruise. Not that he hasn't had a million bruises already.

Poor Linus!
Don't be fooled by rounded corners/edges. The one time my DS had to get stitches right before he turned 2, he fell from standing (he was spinning in circles next to his friend) at just the right angle to pull (not cut) the skin on his head apart enough to need stitches. And of course it was right at 5 pm when his ped's office was closing so we just had to go to urgent care where I got grilled so many times about what happened.
