I'm sure I've talked about these here before, but your comment about daycare play clothes inspired me to mention them again. I am weird and liked for J to wear real clothes during the day early on, but still wanted him to be comfy. I found these "jeans" at Carters when he was still in NB size and have now bought every size up to 24 months (and multiples in certain sizes) because they are hands down my favorite pants for J.
They retail for $12 in store and I've seen them as low as $7 on doorbuster special. They don't list them individually on the website right now (because they sell out so fast), but they are the pants included with this outfit: www.carters.com/carters/2-Piece-Bodysuit-Pant-Set/V_121B330,default,pd.html?cgid=carters-baby-baby-boy-sets
I love them because they look like real jeans, but they are made from knit. They've always fit J really well and people have a hard time figuring out they aren't made from real denim. It's like pajama jeans for babies!
I've included a picture of J in them - I often pair them with "fancier"stuff and I always think he looks cute, but I can also put him down for a nap without having to change his entire outfit. win win all around

Thanks all! We think he's a keeper.
Farmer - yup! It's from Gap. I'm still a wee bit obsessed with orange and navy. Heh
CB - I've only ever seen them individually in store. I've seem them paired with a onesie at like Macy's and stuff, but frankly, I've only ever liked the paired top once (it was a cute hoodie). If you decide you really want them for your son, PM me and I'll volunteer to be a sherpa for ya. We have a Carter's just down the road and I'm there more than I should admit.

I love the pajama jeans too. I got sick of pj looking clothes pretty early too, and these are a great compromise! He is so cute! Where are his boots from? And are you guys over the bug you posted about?

Kari - A sweater obsession is a fun one to have though! We actually have the red one that your little guy wore in your family pics for J's Christmas outfit.
sewpink - the shoes look really soft, too! I love what you've posted!!
Thanks! I know people just assume that one won't put as much thought into boys clothing as you would a girl's stuff, but dang it, I like clothes and I want to dress him in cute stuff.
The mini shoez are a bit stiffer than the regular Robeez, but since he's playing outside in the dirt and standing everywhere, I like the extra bit of weather resistant sole on them.

Thanks CB! At the beginning, it was almost all from Carters - soft, easy and he was too tiny for anything else to fit well. Once he started filling out a bit more (around 6 months), I branched out to Baby Gap for a lot of tops/onesies/hoodies with the odd item from Gymboree. Most of his pants/shorts still come from Carter's as they fit him well and don't look too baby-ish IMO. For special occasion stuff, I like Janie and Jack and Baby Gap.
You seem like you're as picky as I am with clothing, so may I share a piece of advice - return anything clothing wise you don't really like that you receive as a gift. I kept things that I thought "eh, I'll put him in it eventually" when the reality is that I always chose to put him in my favorite items first (I was doing laundry so often anyways, that the favorites didn't spend much time in the hamper). I know your son will be in daycare, so keeping one or two on the fence items for backup clothes there would be good, but if I had it to do over, there is much more I would have returned in the beginning.
