How much will you spend on your child

for Christmas/ Hannukah, etc?

For the past couple years I've been giving DD a present for each night of Hannukah. I have one more thing to get, but my rough estimation is about $100 for everything. Some of the items we bought a couple yrs ago and just saved.

I aim for $75/each, but usually end up closer to $100/each.

This year we will only buy a small gift or two (and something he needs, but wrap it so he can unwrap it) because we have a feeling friends and family will go overboard. I grew up poor so I'm not used to a lot of gifts at Christmas. DH's family, on the other hand, have always been lavish at holidays and its not uncommon for them to spend $1K per person on gifts.

Less than $100. I plan for that to always be the max per kid. That said, my ils go all out.

The grandparents tend to go overboard- my parents do 1-2 big, expensive gifts and the ILs do a zillion little things- so I might just do stockings. So maybe $15/kid?

Less than $300 hopefully for both. I plan to do 1 big gift for each, and 1 joint big gift, plus some stocking stuffers.

I overspend every year though, because I always come up with something that they just HAVE to have at the last minute.

Ugh. We still don't have this worked out. It was easier when they were younger.
Plus we do Hanukkah and Christmas. It's an expensive time of year.

This. DH and I are only children from small families so the only gifts they get are from us and grandparents. And we buy very few toys throughout the year. TBH, this year we'll probably spend at least $400.

Where's the blushy face? I've already spent $100 and I can think of a million things I want for O (will be 6 months at Christmas). I'm not sure what to expect from my parents and ILs, but no one buys things for him but me at this point.

This. I dont really keep track. We are doing MUCH better this year compared to last when we bought him a train table and wood thomas trains. then after we opened everything we needed another train table...and more tracks. I also have some stuff we've bought along the way.

DD1 is 4.5 and our budget for her is $250. DD2 will be 11 months and our budget for her is $150.

We aren't buying DS anything for his birthday (12/22) or Christmas.

He has enough stuff already from toys we have "on loan" from a friend and my mom and stepmom want to shop for him, so he'll get a couple things from them. It's not like he's going to know any different anyways, he'll be 1.

I have about $50 in my amazon cart now of Hanukkah specific books and Hebrew toys.

Probably will get her something small for Christmas bc she is going to be overwhelmed with kids from her grandparents, aunts and uncles. We aren't doing Santa so I don't need gifts from him.

We pretty much only buy her stuff for Christmas and her birthday. I don't feel guilty about it, though. I think "spoiling" comes from year round behavior, not one big gift giving occasion.

Oh not much, maybe $20...or maybe he'll get a carseat for Christmas, wooo fun! He'll get tons of toys from his grandparents, and at 6 months will probably be more interested in the wrapping paper anyway

Probably around $100-ish. To be honest, I've having trouble finding things he might like. He has SO MANY toys already, courtesy of my mom giving him a small toy almost every time she sees him (1x a week-ish). She's on a first-name basis with the employees of the toy store in our small town. I am afraid to go in there lest I go nuts. I can see DH calling me and being like "What are you doing? My wallet just started crying."

I buy for DD through out the year so it's hard to set an amount of how much we actually spend (normally shop after Christmas sales, toy clearances, etc). Last year we put a bunch of stuff back in the present closet because the grandparents went completely overboard and it freaked us out.

We're done shopping for Hannukah, Christmas and Three Kings' Day, I think. About $120 total. Plus, we're still debating whether we're getting DD a replacement scooter as a holiday present or just as a life-saving measure now to make it easier to get to school on time every day.

DH's parents bought DD's Hannukah presents when they were visiting us last month and they are wrapped and ready to go. The only thing I bought in addition to their gifts was the American Girl Hannukah set (fake menorah, dreidls, gelt, etc.) when I was in NY a couple of weeks ago. That was $20.

For xmas, my parents loaded me up with presents when we were home and those are all wrapped and ready to go as well. Stuff I actually spent my own money on came to about $100, but I haven't yet decided what is going to be for Christmas and what will be for Three Kings' Day.

It's possible I will be tempted to buy something else in the next month.

We don't buy anything really during the year, but she gets so many other gifts at Christmas we don't feel the need to buy her a bunch. It gets overwhelming as it is.

$0. She'll be 14 months old at Christmas and she'll be content with playing with empty boxes and wrapping paper. Plus, she'll get plenty of stuff from relatives. I buy her everything and more that she needs throughout the year.

Probably around $100, but he's also getting gifts from two sets of grandparents and two sets of aunts/uncles, so he'll have plenty of gifts. We also buy small gifts throughout the year instead of saving them all for birthdays and Christmas, so he's already gotten a lot of stuff this year.

We've spent about $150 so far and will probably spend another $50. H's side of the family doesn't exchange gifts anymore (conveniently) and my family doesn't buy a lot of stuff so what DS gets is mostly from H/I

DH & I haven't actually discussed an amount but I'm guessing it will be in the $75-$100 range.
