If you have an infant in daycare, do you have a consistent bedtime? DS wants to go to sleep anywhere from 5:30-7:30 depending on how well he slept there or when he last woke up. I try going through a bedtime routine with him to make it easier for when we do sleep training, but a lot of nights he needs to go to bed ASAP.

Yes, we've always had a consistent bedtime, even when they are in daycare, no matter how they slept during the day. Not sure how old your son is, but when we started daycare at 4 months, they were SO tired when we got home at 5:15pm. We had to start the bedtime routine at 6:15pm and lights out at 6:30pm. Even at 2+ years old, they still are in bed by 7pm on 99% of nights, including on the weekends.
ETA: Like others have mentioned, we basically only saw our kids for about an hour at night before they needed to be put down. However, I'd much rather see a kid for a good, happy hour than a crying, cranky overtired hours, which would have happened if we tried to push that bedtime that happened naturally for them.
How old is your child? I found that a natural and consistent bedtime developed around 6 months for my older kid and at 4 months for my younger one. Of course if a kid misses a nap then you have to be flexible. My kids go to bed at 8:15 (15 months old) and 8:30ish (3 years old).
Yes, DD is asleep in her crib by 8pm (she is 12 months old.) Sometimes, she comes home tired, so we may start bedtime a little earlier, or we'll just have some quiet snuggle time in the rocking chair. But I don't see her all day, so there's no way I'm putting her to bed at 6:30pm.
She usually takes a 3rd nap at daycare around 4:30pm, which helps a lot. If she doesn't take that nap, she's really tired when we get home, so I might put her down a half hour earlier.
No matter how he sleeps during the day, 99% of the time DS goes down around 6:30. It's weird because he's not consistent with his naps or wake up time, but bed time is consistent. DS is 10 months old.
When DS was an infant in daycare, his natural bedtime was about 5:45. I basically never saw him in the evenings except to nurse him and put him to sleep. It was kind of sucky.
Well, she's been in daycare for like 2 weeks, so take this for what it's worth...
We've had a bedtime between 8:30 and 9:30 almost every night. One day this week, however, she took a "nap" around 7, and that night she went to bed around 10:30.
DS typically goes down between 7-7:30. We get home about 5:30, I get changed and put my milk in the fridge. DS and I play for a while until its time for him to nurse (typically 6 pm). Then he nurses, I put him in his high chair and make him some cereal. Every other night we do bath time. Then it's pj/diaper/story and bed.

He's a little over 5 months. We definitely don't push bedtime with him. Sometimes I don't even have time to eat before putting him down for the night. Weekends are so much easier. Hopefully he sorts out his naps at daycare soon.

On weekdays when DD goes to daycare, she goes to bed at 6:30. She's 11.5 months. She typically only takes 1 30-minute nap there, so she is exhausted. But this is better than what it used to be -- when she was younger, she was typically in bed by 5:45 or 6.
On weekends/holidays, DD goes to bed at 6:30 about 60% of the time. If she takes some longer-than-usual naps, it might be pushed back to 7, but she very rarely stays up past then.

When the kids were that age, we always ate after they went to bed. It was a nice time for DH and I to be together and reconnect. I also never let them sleep past 4pm and neither does DCP b/c she knows it messes with kids at bedtime.
