Round 1: 2 Sc in each sc around – 12 sc. Round 2: [Inc, sc in next sc] 6 times – 18 sc. Round 3: [Inc, sc in next 2 sc] 6 times – 24 sc. Round 4: [Inc, sc in next 3 sc] 6 times – 30 sc. Round 5: [Inc, sc in next 4 sc] 6 times – 36 sc
I made a magic loop, 6 sc into the loop, then 2 sc in each sc around. I had 12 sc.
Now, do I 2 sc in every sc? That leaves me with 24 sc and completely bypasses the 18sc. HOW do I get 18 sc? Do I sc 6 times in my first sc?
I don't understand what the "6 times" means.
ETA: Okay, I know the 6 times means I'm increasing my stitches by 6 each time. But I'm having a hard time with round 2 and how to add just six stitches in when it says to sc in every sc.
Here is the best way I know to explain the increasing in the round:
Round 2: 1 sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, and repeat for the round - 18 stitches. Round 3: 1 sc in first two stitches, 2 sc in next stitch and repeat for round - 24 stitches Round 4: 1 sc in first three stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, and repeat for round - 30 stitches Round 5: 1 sc in first four stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, and repeat for the round - 36 stitches
Hopefully this is an easier way for you to understand it! I know I struggled with increasing in the round for a long time!! Any other questions, or if you need more clarification, just let me know. I'm happy to help.

A litte trick I noticed is that you always crochet (in this case, sc) 1 stitch less than the round number you are on in between your increases. Once I noticed that, I've had no more issues.
Edited because I don't know what I'm talking about....
Crochet patterns can be super confusing!
Watcha makin'?! :-)
An elephant =D
I got the body worked out; I stuffed it with plastic grocery bags because I had no idea I was going to make an elephant today. lol. I'm working on the head now, then all my big pieces will be done. I cannot wait to do the ears, they're so cute!
